< looks at year > Yep, still 2022. Digital storage space is incredibly cheap these days. My Plex server (Pi 4B based) uses a pair of USB3 external drives with a total of 15TB space. The PC has close to the same total between internal data RAID and additional externals for the photo library. 🤷‍♂️
Of course , I also remember when a 20MB (yes, with an "M") drive the size of a shoe box cost about $1k.

well I don't consider £70 for a hard drive cheap, but each to his own. some have more than others.
