What have you been playing recently?

Conkers games were expensive on eBay and I ran out of video game money a while ago. Its definitely on my list of games next time I splurge.

It's worth it, my friend. Your best bet is, if you have them, charity shops (thats how I found mine for a quid). Boot sales are also another bet (or your variant garage sales), as you'll always come across someone who's selling loads of tat for nowt. I once found a complete copy of Donkey Kong 64, complete with free mould (don't ask), and Mario Kart 64 with free porn (i just opened the boxed to pull out the cart, and it fell out the box. Winning!!) from different sellers on different sales for about £2.50 each. Trust me, it pays if you look hard enough. You do get some chancers though ("That goes for £40 on ebay", and he's selling it for £50. It tells me he doesn't use completed listings, or is a nob!).

Nice one. You played Conker's Bad Fur Day? If not, grab a copy (if you can find one cheap enough. the UK PAL copies used to go for upwards of about £50 boxed. Got mine unboxed for a shiny pound coin :-D), and laugh yourself silly at Gregg The Grim Reaper, Bees from Newcastle and an area that's literally covered in shit.

or just download an emu and get the rom off the net and play for free. which is exactly how I was able to enjoy the escapades of our furry little friend, opera singing shit monster an' all.

I loved Rare in their previous 8bit incarnation, it's a real shame they becaome ninty only devs :(

e2a: Since it's the snooker world championships at the mo I have been playing a lot of that via the wonderful Virtual Pool 4.

Or you could just do that. But, I find using the actual hardware gets the nostalgia ducts flowing. Also, the emulators for the N64 don't show sky texture properly, case in point GoldenEye. Trust me, emulate that for 5 minutes and it'll feel like you've done LSD (not that I've ever done such a thing, of course).

I did emulators for a while, great way to play games. I'll probably get em again.

Yes, I'm an Acorn retro enthusiast and have an entire room dedicated to them so I get the whole touchy feely thing.

Lol, you can trust me on this, you have no idea what an LSD trip is like unless you've done one. It is so far removed from the twaddle they make it out to be on telly.

Lol I'll take your word for it. It has made me want to crack the emulator out again and play some Shadows of the Empire. One of the first N64 games I bought and I loved it. Hated the Ord Mandell level on the moving train, though. One of the worst levels I've ever come across.

Know what I'm playing these days? One of the best RPGs of the 90s, and the game that started one of my favorite series of all time:

Sadly, it is considered Abandonware so there are no legal means to buy it nowadays; but if you still got your Win95 (!) CDROM like I do there are fixes and trainers to get it up and running on any recent version of Windows :)

The last of us, if I wan't so interested in Beyond:two souls and batman: arkham origins later in the year. This would definitely be my swan song for the PS3. I've got no idea how much further I have to go, but it's been quite emotional in a good way (like Telltale's Walking dead point & clicks) but with a sidekick who can hold her own (well as the game progresses)

Prototype (love it more than I liked Infamous) and Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (going thru the Escape from Butcher Bay section right now).

looking forward to Arkham Origins later this year. as well as more of Telltale's Walking Dead.

Im eagely looking forward to The Last of Us

I'm eagerly looking forward to replaying it... but not for a while. You are in for a serious treat though. I cannot stress how great the experience is

was able to get a copy of The Last of Us today. haven't gotten into it to far, but the intro alone kinda made me jaw drop. it also reminds of TellTale's Walking Dead in terms of tone a little bit. and that's not a bad thing whatsoever since TWD is one of my favorite games I've ever played so far.

Update:
So far the game has been pretty awesome. There's definitely a lot of tension. It reminds me of I Am Legend and 28 Days/Weeks Later. I'd highly recommend it.

I was one of the Kickstarter backers of Shadowrun Returns. I was never much into isometric games, but this one has me intrigued. I'm actually having flashbacks to the days of when I played Shadowrun in high school. It's atmospheric, violent and a lot of fun. Not expensive either.

well sold my ps3. my gf and i picked up a 360. so far been playing a bit of everything (Dead Rising, Left 4 Dead, Alan Wake, Fable)

Same as g1orkatsos . My girlfriend and I have been thoroughly enjoying it, and we're both rubbish at driving and flying. :p

I've also been playing Saints Row IV and Lord of the Rings: War in the North, but have been taking a hiatus from both due to work and GTA obligations. :p

Wolf Among Us, Godus Beta and eagerly awaiting the ED Alpha.
