The Godfather Chronological Edit: FULL HD Rebuild - MAX LENGTH 10h 5min

The scene occurs after Fabizio's death which will remain relocated and would follow with a hard cut to Kay and Michael dancing (in the Opus there was a crossfade thru black). Now, with the reinstatement of the theatrical order I can do a long cross fade to Michael on the pier dock from the smouldering wreckage…and then to the dancing…it’s perfect, Michael is wearing the same clothes and to boot now matches the book and original screenplay! All i had to do was rebuild all the audio...(dog barking etc).
I look forward to seeing this. The pier scene appears to be early morning, before sunrise, before the communion party. I'm unsure how it will work towards the end of the party.

Also, the link appears dead.

Pretend it’s dusk….?

The last scene at the party is day, Fabrizio dies at night…

Could go before…as he contemplates the violence away from him…

I shall report back…I have an idea…

The communion party goes into the night... Kay & Michael dancing, the dinner table with everyone, etc.

4 options
1. Place the scene immediately before fabrizio death
2. After Fabizios death
3. Overlay it immediately after Michael is looking at the photos…which is also an overlay since we can see his suit color, and have him walking as fabrizio walks overlaid and then the close up of him overlaid as fabrizio falls out of the car

4. Place the scene immediate after the men are searching the grounds but before Antony’s bed time chat…that implies sunrise which in summer is circa 3/4am and plays contemplatively prior to the bedtime chat, which would be late given it was a party…

Preference?

I have one…I’ve tested all 4… only one works well imho.

UPDATE: MAGNUM OPUS

Both are rendered and are now onlg the re-re-RE-render of MIchale's Opus is left to load.

Previous locations remain and the new FINAL (please) desigantions are:
Don Vito's Opus v6.06
Michael's Opus v8.04

Anyone who snuck 6.06 in the past few days or previously should know IT IS AN INFERIOR RENDER. This is due to a random asset substitution occuring meaning that over 50% of the edit was derived from a low bit rate asset. This results in blocking which is attrocious. I have no idea how that could have happened, but it did. It also happened to me once befor on another edit. This time the fix was easy. I hid the low bit rate file and pointed the linking to the correct file and all was well. BIZZARE but pleased I spotted this in the QC check.

If anyone has Don Vito 6.06 already (and you shouldnt coz I did not go public), then please delete it and re-acquire using the previous information.

The same applies to MIchael's Opus 8.04. If anyone snuck it prior to today, it has errors which are now corrected. Again, no one should have it but I'm just putting this out there....if you do, delete and reaquire from the previous information.

The two revised "The Godfather Extended" and "The Godfather Part II Extended" edits will not replace the existing listings, namely "The Godfather Extended Edition HD" and "The Godfather Part II Extended Edition HD" below :

WHY?

I (and many others) will rightly regard Hal's edits both as different edits ultimately AND they are of historical fanedit interest and should be retained as seperate listings IMHO. Frankly, were it not for these (Hal's), I would not have had the inspiration to tackle the Magnum Opus. But I also could not ignore the avalanche of requests to "revise" these edits either by adding in all my work as well. Both required a complete rebuild nevertheless, but the end is in sight.

"The Godfather Extended" will be submitted together with "The Godfather Part II Extended" as new listing; each will list WRAITH and Hal_over_9000 as the editors. New artwork will also be included for you disc burners out there INCLUDING a 10 Disc Cover Artwork covering:
  1. The Godfather Don Vito's Opus
  2. The Godfather Michael's Opus
  3. The Godfather La Fine
  4. The Godfather Don Vito's Opus - Purist
  5. The Godfather Michael's Opus - Purist
  6. The Godfather Extended
  7. The Godfather Part II Extended
  8. The Godfather Extended Edition HD (Hal's)
  9. The Godfather Part II Extended Edition HD (Hal's)
  10. The Godfather Epic 1901-1959 HD (yes this too may be coming but not from me)

My next posting will confirm the submission of both the extended versions AND the final availability of all 4 edits including the full details for" The Godfather Michael's Opus 8.04" changes AND "The Godfather Part II Extended" changes in the same detail as above.

FINALLY
UBER versions will also be available for the extended versions.

Thanks again to all and a special shout out to @SonnyGFunk, @Mako, @spence, @ArtisDead, @tylrsmmrs and @tony.montana79 ...you all know why by now!

Congrats Wraith! This has surely been quite a long time to spend on one project (or I guess 5 or 6 edits total), so I thank you for your hard work. I will be downloading Magnum Opai asap, and can’t wait to download your new Extended editions in UBER quality. Thanks again for all your hard work!

And they will all be in Uber as well as MP4….

Thanks again over the past 18 months to all you on this thread and in direct messaging helping out (and nagging)….it often was the needed push to revisit…

TRIVIA

Most projects need between 300GB and 500GB to store the complete files, renders, assets etc.

Even Superman or Split Unbreakable Glass were under 1TB.

These projects in total require 4TB of storage space, exceeding my previous record of 2TB for my Hobbit edits.

And I only have one copy (extra hard drive on the way)!

Holy shit, that’s a lot of bits! I really should get on finishing my two Hobbit edits. Been holding off on those for so long now.

UPDATE

GF- FINAL -
COMPLETED

If you have had information previously on Don Vito's Opus 6.XX or MIchael's Opus 8.XX then you will be able to still use this to acquire Don Vito's Opus v6.06
and Michael's Opus v8.04 respectively

The folders also contain the Theatrically Structure Exteneded Edits as well for simplicity.

If you do not have the information required, then please MESSAGE me, and if you are a NEW MEMBER please confirm if you own the source per the site rules. It will save all concerned a lot of back and forth.

That's all folks!

Best and Enjoy

W

Thanks for the epic work, Wraith! I have the Opus edits in my queue to watch over the coming month.

It just so happens that NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour ran an in-depth episode about The Godfather this weekend.

Here are some additional numbers AND recommended viewing blocks since there is some confusion among those that have never watched the originals...

Each block is a complete viewing experience.

# time difference due to the differing opening and closing captions.
@ There are however some alterations and additions in the Magnum Opus that are NOT in the Extended versions and also significant scene re-ordering .

A quick note to say that the below clip, of a shot that was added to the Magnum Opus was inadvertently left out of The Godfather Part 2 extended… @tony.montana79 spotted this…big thanks sir!

I kept telling myself not to forget Kay’s Taxi… and I still forgot.

Previous information in direct messages is valid since the file has been replaced…so no need to reach out to me again. All previous instructions stand for the extended version.

Obviously, there is no Logo in the the fanedit!

CODA:

It’s all ok folks…no new discoveries…well…sorta.

I decided to watch the Theatrical version of The Godfather Part 3, 2hr 42 min, and was struck by something I had missed… so I then checked the 1991 cut (2hr 50min) and sure enough …there it was.

Some of you may recall earlier in this thread I went to great lengths to correct an awful continuity issue in Part 3 where an establishing shot of St Michael’s in NY is used prio to Michael’s meeting with the Archbishop…the shot trying to imply they are in NY when the room the meeting is held in is in The Vatican as we later see.

Anyway, as you know, I corrected all that. What I had missed however was that that shot error was NOT in the Theatrical cut . Further, it’s is repeated again in Coda (2h37min)…
Appalling!

What is worse, is the butchered ending of Coda… I mean, the awful cross fade of Cavalieri Rusticana is such a well known piece…to hear it so butchered, when they have the assets, is just plain indefensible. Let alone the visuals being cut too.

Any editor on this site would have not produced such a hamfisted execution. Worse still is that caption at the end….

Seriously…it’s like a cheap TV movie “when a Sicilian wishes you cent anni, they are wishing you a long life. A Sicilian never forgets”

Huh?!!?!

It’s just odd. Quotes and captions like that are not used anywhere in the trilogy of films….it’s called The Death of Michael Corlene, and we don’t see him die, and only that he (or some other Sicilian) won’t forget.

Dire

Someone please explain to me how Coda is an improvement…?

And to think I have it in 4K!

Rant over.
