Edgar Rice Burrough's first and BEST creation is coming to the screen this March!
The second trailer has just been released.

Good stock footages for Star Wars Prequels fanedits....
;)
Not sure what to think about this. Spaceship's design is cool and all, but this could end like a Roland Emmerich movie.
Hope it's not the case.

I am surprised this upcoming movie is not getting more buzz on the Forum. This is easily the most anticipated new movie of the year for me.

Anyway, at one point in this projects development, Sky Captain creator/director Kerry Conran was attached. His Demo Reel has surfaced on Youtube. It is quite interesting. It appears his take may have been a bit more faithful and more serious. Another great Hollywood "What If..."

A better Fan-Made Trailer that actually explains what the movie is about!

Really looking forward to this. I have read the first two books in the series and hope to get around to more of them sometime. They are great fun to read.

Didnt even hear about/care about it until I learned that Andrew Stanton was attached. Seems like this story has really been mined dry from other franchises though - trailers alone feel like chronicles of riddick/avatar/star wars prequels/etc - I am very interested to see what Stanton can do with live action though.

Insightful Preview Review here:

^Very interesting preview review. Must say I agree with most of it.

I too have been completely baffled by Disney's approach to promoting this movie. If I had not read all the Burroughs novels as as kid, I would have no idea what this movie was about or would probably not have even cared. You think at the very minimum they would want to promote it as a creation of EDGAR RICE BURROUGHS, the creator of Tarzan. Then again, the average teen to twentysomething has probably never read or heard of Burroughs and his wonderous creations.

I must say, I totally disagree with Stanton's decision of dropping the "MARS" from the title. It seems so obvious to me. If he did not want to call it JOHN CARTER OF MARS, he should have gone with one of the original titles, either UNDER THE MOON OF MARS or A PRINCESS OF MARS.

oh well, I will be there opening night! To Barsoom and Beyond!!!:D

From what I read online Disney did some market research a while back and it concluded that the title 'John Carter of Mars' wasn't an appealing title to target audiences, arguably the female section of the survey didn't give a positive response to the word Mars and now the director is doing PR to try and justify the title switch http://www.scifimoviepage.com/blog/movies/john-carter-director-explains-title-change/

Personally I never read the original novels, but I've have been catching up since a few months ago with the current Dynamite published comic adaptations and they are quite great. I'd recommend them to any fan of old school Scifi fan, not only folks in the know say its quite faithful to the source material, but they are also rated Mature which allows for full action presentation.

The thing is that like clockwork now that the movie is so close to being released that publisher is being sued by the ERB state heirs over "trademark infringement and unfair competition" - http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=37044 ; and they do this in spite the fact that quite a few of the novels are now in the public domain for most of the world except the UK.
Im no lawyer, some say that the copyright vs trademark difference comes into play to give grounds and whatnot but the whole thing stinks of Disney's long reaching legal arms flexing their muscle by proxy - we will never get confirmation of that of course. I won't get too much into the "pornographic" smear campaign of the while thing, the article explains what its about; but I think its hilarious they complain about that when most of the published book covers show some scantily clad princess or another.

This whole thing added to the reported PG rating of the movie has really killed much of my interest for it, but perhaps I will catch it on video at some stage.

I wonder whats up with the forum, all the new lines in my post ^ were ignored when sending...

Never heard of it or anything around it. The trailers aren't grabbing me - looks like a Disney action film.

Must say I'd more up for the likes of The Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus and The Hobbit than this.

Id be willing to bet it will flop - find a following on home video and manage to get a sequel made for alot less - similar to how Chronicles of Riddick did. I am also not at all interested by the material shown in the trailers and never heard anything about it prior to watching that preview review - I must say that I am interested when a solid storyteller like Andrew Stanton has carte blanche w/ a sci-fi themed tale - what, I am a dork :)

Disney is finally getting it's act together (but is it too late?) and really pushing John Carter with a new more in depth trailer and today they released the first 10 minutes. I like what I am seeing, looks like a good old fashioned fun adventure.

nice find bob. thanks for sharing! looks good :)

I'm dubious - as I've been suckered into these before. Hopefully the trailers aren't doing the film any justice and this is not an all out action flick....stop making me hope Bob!

Never give up HOPE!!!!:D

A good review from IGN....

Just back from watching John Carter and... boy this movie was dull. I guess the book might be quite charming but what is left on movie is a tedious uninspired movie. The characters are flat, the world looks complex but unengaging. I bet thousands of hours have put into this movie in terms of effects and design but it is just as unengaging as the main character/actor
