GODDAMMITNOTATALL (WiNNING!)

I've seen this on other sites but is it possible to automatically change someones avatar when they get enough warnings to something like 'Potential Troll' or 'Don't Feed the Troll' really annoys the crap outta them and is quite a good incentive for not being a dick.

this would be a fantastic feature to have here :)

How about just change their avatar to Jar Jar :-D

There's an image I wish I could get rid of.

So I shouldn't make a gif for it?

Go ahead, I'm already stuck with the image. Heck, make it his avatar.

Wow I'm full of good ideas today!

I better be careful or my foot might fall off...

I've been getting interested in alternate tv cuts of movies again recently and I've decided to record a few to see if there's anything new that's been added to them. I was inspired by the guy who I got the Jason Goes To Hell, Freddy's Dead, Child's Play 2 and Child's Play 3 tv cuts because he goes to the trouble of comparing a lot of the alternate cuts that he's got to the theatrical cut of the same film and he makes a subtitle track detailing the differences, he's done over 100 so far.

I've decided to try my hand at doing the same but so far I've only done one for "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo". It's only got a few minor differences, no new scenes, but I've decided to keep it anyways. This morning I recorded "Walking Tall", the 2004 movie starring The Rock, off of A&E hoping that it would contain some new scenes. Holy crap was I surprised. For starters I edited out the commercials and the movie runs for 83 minutes, with sped up commercials that start at the 82 minute mark, while the theatrical cut runs for 85 minutes, with the end credits starting at the 73 minute mark. So the tv cut is approximately 9-10 minutes longer than the theatrical cut. I spent about 2 hours comparing the two cuts side by side and only got 20 minutes in before deciding to give up. I didn't think that there'd be this many differences. They didn't even mention there being any new footage included in the pre-movie warning, only of the movie being edited for content and time. Take a look at what I mean.

1:37 Part with The Rock passing in front of red truck and driver beeping horn on tv cut is new.

4:09 "What the mill closing? Yeah." is new dialogue on the tv cut.

4:40 When the Sheriff tells Ralston to get out of the car the angle is different. In the theatrical cut the camera is on The Rock but in the tv cut the camera is on the Sheriff.
We also see Ralston get out of the car, which we don't in the theatrical cut. When Ralston says "Welcome home soldier." he does a little hand gesture in the tv cut but not
in the theatrical cut. The Rock replies with "Thanks." in the theatrical cut but with "Thank you." in the tv cut.

5:00 After the Sheriff pretends to pull his gun on The Rock and asks him to get in the car he asks him if he scared him in the theatrical cut however in the tv cut he says that
he's only joking at which point Ralston says "Just humor him." before the Sheriff then asks The Rock if he scared him.

7:07 When The Rock gets home his sister walks out onto the porch and asks him "Can I help you?" In the theatrical cut he just giggles. She then says "Little brother. You come
over here and give me a hug." at which point she walks down the steps and he approaches here. She jumps in his arms and they hug. In the tv cut however he replies with "I
was wondering if you had a room for rent." She says "I don't know. You look shady to me. I think you should keep moving." to which he replies with "More shady than Rick
Alvarez? You know I fattened his lip when he dumped you." She then laughs and says "His name was Matt." The Rock laughs and she says "And he didn't dump me. You were just
jealous because he was driving a Camaro and you were peddling a 10 speed." He says "I'm going to fatten your lip if you don't come out here." and she says "No you come
here and give me a hug."

7:50 When Michelle yells to her mother that The Rock is home she says "Ma! Chris is here." and it's in a wide shot in the theatrical cut however in the tv cut she says "Hey
ma! Chris is here." and the it's shown in a close-up.

7:54 In the tv cut when The Rock asks his sister who the tent outside is for she says that it's for Pete. He playfully pushes here and asks her "Who's Pete?" at which point
the mother comes out.

8:00 When The Rock's mom comes out he calls her "momma" in the tv cut but "mom" in the theatrical cut.

8:05 The Rock kisses his mother in the tv cut but not in the theatrical cut.

8:07 The Rock's conversation with his mother contains different angles and shots than in the theatrical cut. We also see his father earlier in this scene in the theatrical cut.

8:18 The line "Get in the kitchen." is new dialogue in the tv cut.

8:20 The Rock's reunion with his father is slightly different.

8:30 The establishing shot of the house in the theatrical cut contains dialogue over it that is said a few seconds later in the tv cut.

8:32 The scene of the mother in the kitchen getting more food is new in the tv cut.

8:38 The dinner scene is extended in the tv cut.

10:37 When Pete leaves the table Michelle tells him to be back by 10. In the tv cut he doesn't say anything but in the theatrical cut he says "10:30" and she says "10" again.

11:01 The scene when The Rock enters his old room is shown in a wider shot in the tv cut.

11:59 "I said I'm staying out there, I'm staying out there." is new dialogue in the tv cut.

12:06 The scene of The Rock rummaging through his bag for something for Pete in the tv cut in new.

12:32 The scene of The Rock tearing apart the deck stairs is extended in the tv cut.

13:15 The scene with Ray Ray and The Rock is contains alternate and is extended in the tv cut.

14:34 The scene with The Rock and his friends on the football field is extended in the tv cut but is also missing a bit of footage from the theatrical cut.

18:50 The scene after the football game is shown in a wider angle in the tv cut.

20:00 When the guys drive up to the casino the tv cut is missing part of the dialogue that in the theatrical cut. This is because it was used in an earlier extended scene in the
tv cut.

And there's probably a lot more new footage/scenes but I don't think I'm going to compare the rest of the movie.

Are you in the right thread?

Of course I am silly. I took a shot and recorded the movie hoping that there'd be some new scenes and not only did I get new scenes I got alternate scenes, extended scenes, alternate angles, alternate shots and alternate dialogue. The DVD only has 3 deleted scenes and an alternate ending and none of the new footage I've listed is included, and that's only for the first 20 minutes of the movie. With the tv cut being 9-10 minutes longer than the theatrical cut I can only imagine how much more new content is included. I'd certainly call that a win for me.

I hope they re-air Erin Brockovich again. I had watched that one when ABC aired it as the movie of the week years ago and there was at least one new scene, which is included in the deleted scenes section of the DVD, but I never recorded it when A&E aired it because I didn't think that they'd air the same version. Now seeing what they've done with Walking Tall I'm thinking that they may have aired the same version. They've been airing Broken Arrow and True Lies quite a bit lately, I think I might record those and see if they also contain new/alternate/extended footage.

Oh okay, frankly it was tl;dr ;)

According to the local paper, Charlie Sheen himself was in my town last night, not far at all from where I live. He was visiting an "upscale" tattoo parlor with one of the "goddesses."

Despite my relative proximity to him, I somehow managed not to see him. Now that's what I call really winning ;-)

Just found out that I will be teaching Shakespeare and World Cinema next semester! Now I actually have to create the class...

Got him! And who? The NAVY, hooyah! :-D

LOL that about sums it all up.

Bin Laden's origins and history made him unique; with a little luck and a lot of hard work, there won't be anything like him or 9/11 again. That, and I refuse to let anyone rain on today's parade, so...
