If Abed is the only one aware its a tv show, then that implies he was involved in the making of the TV show, which still would mean we are seeing things from his perspective and imagination. This is extremely evident in some episodes such as claymation christmas, reality show, and yahtzee episodes. Less evident in most, thankfully. In over-the-top episodes like paintball & Zombie halloween, it helps to think that Abed's mind is probably exaggerating the actual events.

I guess but really the claymation episode is the only one where I'd say that's the case. In all other instances, the events are presented to the audience, not to Abed. Abed isn't there sometimes and the story goes on. The paintball episodes and the DnD episode come to mind, specifically because of the fragmented group and the narrator/janitor.

Yes Abed knows he's in a show, but it's done in a way that you can take that and make it mean what you want.

I think it's probably a bad idea to try to use logic regarding Abed and the fourth wall. Just go with it.

...And for what it's worth, Abed has specifically stated at least once that they are living real life, not a TV show. :)

season 3 ep 15 might be my least favorite of the series so far.

That's funny, coz it was the one where I finally felt like they were back to where I like them. (I had been nervous about feeling like something was 'off' since the hiatus, and was hoping it was just poor timing.) :D

My least favorite is, and probably always will be, S02E05 "Messianic Myths and Ancient Peoples"

Plus, not to be too pathetically net-nerd clichéd, but any day Annie wears an ill-fitting cardigan ain't too shabby of a day. :)

Huh. I was tired and distracted while watching it. Maybe I'll give it a second chance. The whole concept just felt a little too forced on my first viewing.

Ah, y'know...we're all of us different or whatever. :) I wasn't arguing or trying to change your mind. Just thought it was funny that we were opposite on this one.

I personally liked last week's episode. Good to know they don't have to rely on over-the-top concepts to still be funny. Season 3 has overall been a bit of a letdown. Some really solid episodes ("Competitive Ecology", "Remedial Chaos Theory", "Foosball and Nocturnal Vigilantism") but also some really big duds ("Regional Holiday Music" and "Pillows and Blankets") that should be deleted from the history books.

Have to disagree, I thought Regional Holiday Music was great, especially the third act.

Pillows and Blankets made me question whether I like this show anymore

I think the main problem with Pillows is that not only is it one of their least-like-a-normal-episode concept eps, but the drive behind it (Abed and Troy aren't friends any more) is very forced and totally empty.

Not TOTALLY empty. Before the two-parter, Troy kinda blew up in Abed's face and he didn't take it well.

Wait, what? Troy and Abed aren't friends anymore? What happened?

It's all good. It was resolved in one episode.

FU Dan Harmon.

That's good. I can't imagine Troy and Abed not being friends. They go together like milk and cereal, like pizza and beer, like the internet and porn. Well you get my point.

I can sleep easy now. After seeing "Virtual Systems Analysis" I know that they can still do a "crazy-concept" episode with a lot of heart and character development.
