Classic Movies that could use a fan edit

I'm curious, maybe there's a better thread for this, but I'm wondering which Bond movies haven't been edited? It would be neat to as a community put together a collection of every Bond movie in an edited form.

As far as I know there are no fanedits of: Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever, The Spy Who Loved Me, Octopussy, or Goldeneye, plus the still not physically available No Time to Die and the 1954 or 1967 versions of Casino Royale.
 
I've long wanted to do a Laurel and Hardy Mashup...and for that matter, Abbott and Costello.
I still have a Noir mashup in the pantheon of "I'll get round to it" edits...
Not an edit , but I have a side by side comparison of the CinemaScope vs Standard Flat versions of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers...lots of movies in the 50s which were CinemaScope, were shot twice since not all cinemas were equipped for Scope....Sometimes its the same take, with 2 cameras running, but a lot of the time it is a full reshoot, with actors and framing differing materially... NOT submitted since VERY NICHE...PM me if you are so inclined...it does have a text commentary by me explaining the setups....shot for shot...

Hi ! Im new at this forum, im not an english native speaker so don't mind if i have some grammar msitakes please. I wanted to say that it would be amazing to have a fan edit of Avatar movie with more deleted scenes back into the movie. The have got like an hour on those.

Another two I have considered:

Ace in the Hole: For such a darkly cynical story, it has some forcedly tearjerking parts that almost seem out of a Frank Capra film. Remove that sentimentality and go all-cynical.

12 Angry Men: As great as this one is, it commits one cardinal sin: showing us the defendant in the opening scene, all sorrowful and teary-eyed. That makes the viewer instantly feel sorry for him, regardless of whether he did it or not. In order for the story to work properly, we should go into it with no opinion on the defendant, so like in the original play we should never see him. Other small trims for pacing can be done all through, in order to avoid being an one-cut edit.

Oof. You're crossing a line now :p the film is nearly perfect. I actually rewatched it the other day and briefly considered a light edit, and then decided it wasn't worth doing for nitpicks.

What parts do you find to be forced sentimentality?

It was actually your mention of it in the alternate titles thread what reminded me of the idea. It's been a while, but I remember some bits focusing on the townspeople that I thought could come straight from Meet John Doe, and wasn't there a scene of Leo's mom (or was it his wife) praying, complete with sad music?

I've not seen Meet John Doe. Yeah, there's a scene with the mom praying, but I don't find it remotely sentimental/corny in the way that it's executed. It's good foreshadowing IMO.

Maybe it's because after reading for years about how dark and cynical about the human condition the film was (and it still is), I felt they put some of that stuff there to soften the blow and it would work better if it was all pessimistic. Don't know, my view could vary after a rewatch.

Well there is the Bond franchise filter over in the database to show what does exist.
Also, sorry Lapis Molari, Problem Eliminator, Rangerkris, and MusicEd921. I didn't mean to exclude you guys. I even have a few of your edits and enjoyed them. I just happen to have gotten & watched more of the LS cuts so far, so he came to mind first. I'll take my 1,000 lashes with a wet noodle now.
 
Curious on some older movie ideas for a new project. One's that have a bluray release with 5.1 audio would be excellent if possible. Thoughts on some?
 
I've always wanted to edit 2001 A Space Odyssey into something leaner that more closely resembles either the Arthur C Clarke book that was written alongside the screenplay, or how people remember the film as being (eg, having the "bone throw / orbital nuke" sequence mickey-mouse to the music). I know there's at least one edit that pares the whole movie down to about 80 minutes, but my aims would be slightly different.
 
A minor thing, but that bad blue screen shot of James Stewart falling out the window is the only thing I'd change in Rear Window.

Grapes of Wrath(1940), for pacing.
The Professionals (1966), to tidy up the plot and a bit of pacing.
Papillon (1973), for pacing and perhaps to cut a few close-ups of Steve McQueen's realistically horrible teeth (aside: though modern movies are worse where even medieval servants have perfect dental plans).
Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), watching this movie always disappoints compared to my memory of it. And Rooney's Japanese is awful.
Stage Door (1937), heavy trims to lift the wonderful performances above the disappointing script.
The Importance of Being Earnest (1952), for pacing.
