I went to the Bluesfest tonight and it was awesome! I went with my buddy Dave and we saw the first song by a band called
The Arkells but then we decided to walk around a bit and we crossed the street, there was another stage across the street, and we saw
The Duhks. We missed the first song or so but we stayed for the rest of the set. It was pretty good and they sang in English, French and a language that sounded very Latin'y. We left that stage and checked out the merchandise tent but didn't buy anything because it was all too expensive. We were going to walk around a bit but noticed that people were already starting to line-up for KISS at the Bank America stage so we decided to make our way as well.
Beast were just taking the stage so we caught their whole set. We managed to finagle our way to the front, or close enough anyways. We were only about 20 feet from the stage so we got a pretty good view.
KISS were originally supposed to take the stage at 9:30 but that got changed at the last minute and their new start time was now 8:45 so that they could play longer. The whole set lasted almost two and a half hours. They started with Deuce then went into Strutter and I forget the order after that. After the third song they stopped playing to banter with the crowd and before Paul started talking I yelled out "Parasite!", because I wanted to hear them play it, and then like three songs later they played it.
When they played "Rock N' Roll All Nite" they had these huge flames going at the back of the stage and two cannons shooting confetti and believe me when I say this, you could not see a single thing on stage at that point. All you could see was the confetti. I thought it was pretty early for that song but thankfully the show didn't end there.
At one point, I forget what song they were playing, these two girls, early twenties, tried to make their way closer to the stage. Nobody was letting them get any closer so they planted themselves to my right. One wasn't bad but the other one was really hot, and wearing these really tight jeans and a bikini top. So I'm watching the show and then I turn around and I see the hot one on some guy's shoulders. She starts to undo the strap so I poke my buddy and nod to get him to look in her direction. He thought I meant that he was on the jumbotron so he just went back to looking at the show. Then she takes her top off and starts to shake them. I nudge my buddy again and he doesn't notice it so I grab his head and I turn it in her direction. Now he notices. I'm trying to watch the show but I can't keep my eyes off this hot girl with great tits. She gets off the guy's shoulders so I go back to watchingt the show but I can't help but keep looking in her direction. Her friend sees me checking her out and starts talking to me. She says "Isn't that cool? Aren't they nice?" and I can't help but say yeah. She then tells me that they're fake but still real nice. Then she pulls out her camera and calls to her friend, who poses for her, and snaps a picture. Then they go into "Lick It Up". I turn around and this girl is shaking her tits and bending over backwards. At this point her friend says to me "Check this out!" and walks over to her topless friend and buries her face in her breasts and starts to lick them.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Damn! And me without my camera.
After the song was finished though they managed get a little closer to the stage, which is pretty damn easy when one of them is hot and topless and there's a lot of guys in the crowd. She gets back up on some guys shoulders and is shaking them again when she catches Paul Stanley's attention. He just stops and stares and with the look on his face definitely approves. Gene also got sight of her and his eyes bugged out. I then saw this guy to my left looking a little back and to my right so I turn around to see a good looking blonde wearing a tube top on some guys shoulders. But alas she kept her dignity, and her top.
A few guys got kicked out of the show though because they tried to start a mosh pit. Security quickly escorted them out and Paul told them that if they wanted to mosh they should go to a fucking death metal show, his words not mine. We were on the right side of the stage though so we didn't see, or feel the moshing.
All in all it was a great show and a great experience. Not as good as the GNR show I saw a couple of years ago, but then again they had Sebastian Bach as one of the openers and he mostly did Skid Row material, but definetely worth the 61.50$ it cost for the ticket.
