Main Project Intentions & Info:
This project aims to bring tighter editing & stronger continuity to 8 of the films in the Halloween movie series.
This series features 5 branching timelines. I've included a guide showing the different routes.
On-screen dates have been added so that everything tracks out.
A new "A (directors name) Film" credit has been added to the beginning of each film.
New or altered title cards bring visual continuity to the series. Each film's title card also closes the film, appearing before the end credits.
Each film now ends with a short post-credits shot with the classic Michael Kills cue.

I've made extensive alterations to each film in order to shape my ideal versions.

Films Excluded:
I won't be editing Resurrection, the RZ Duology, Kills or Ends.
I just don't care for Res or the RZ's. Though, there is a bit of audio from RZ1 in my edit of the original Halloween.
I've used scenes & shots from Kills in my edit of 2018, but my ending leaves no room for sequels, so, no Ends.
(I may come back & do something with Ends someday... I do have an idea.)

Peroration:
John Carpenter's Halloween is, of course, an absolute classic film & the series that followed transcended into pop culture. Everybody recognizes the theme & Michael, even if they've never seen the films.
I have heavy nostalgia for these movies. The first 5 have played on a loop on TV every October since I was very young & I always let em play.
These films & the music from them have always been a part of my favorite holiday.

The Halloween series is a fun, iconic slasher-opera. The different paths offer multiple options for movie nights. Get some friends together & plan your adventure!
Whichever timeline you choose, I hope these versions will enhance the experience for you. Whether you're seasoned trick r' treater or a casual pumpkin carver, I hope you have fun in Haddonfield!

Ah OK. Was a bit confused at first.

Ironically, I was actually thinking of a fanedit series idea with all the Halloween films in one canon much like your other horror fanedits while marathoning the series! A bit complicated (definitely more than I can do right now haha), but I do think it can work.

(and in case anyone was wondering, I would remove the sister angle from all the films that have it to help them all fit better together)

Title Card-

I've always hated the font, the gradient & the entire H20 thing.
I've made a title card more reminiscent of the rest of the series, with deleted newspaper footage used behind.


What's on TV-

The original features a scene from Scream 2. This causes a tear in the universe, as the Halloween films are watched & talked about in the Scream movies.
I've replaced it with footage from Frankenstein, which has been established as the book being studied in their literature class.
Mrs. Tate even mentions that they could "just watch the movie." *
I've changed the footage in all three shots of the TV & added TV scanlines & VCR tracking effects.


* This is a bad idea. The story from book to film is dramatically different. Don't just watch the movie. Read the book. But, also watch the movie.
(Bride of Frankenstein is possibly my favorite film)

I really hate that Bram Stoker & Mary Shelley's names were attached to adaptations that STILL don't stay true to their sources...
But James Whale's films are fantastic (all of his films) & I dig Browning's Dracula.

Expect raymixes of the various Universal Monsters series.

One of the more faithful adaptations, yes. But that's a rarely seen & quite dull TV mini-series, & it doesn't replace reading the book.

But, this isn't a Classic Horror Literature Adaptation thread. That's not a bad idea for one though...

I just watched H1, 2 and 4 and wanted to say kudos to you, man.

I didn't even know it was possible to make the original (one of my all time favorite movies) even better, but alas, you did it! Even H 2 and 4, which I never even liked all that much, were made into much more solid flicks!

Here's my nitpicks about it:

H1

33:40 - 34:20 - This scene would be better without the theme? One of those times silence is more immersive.

40:10-40:40 - That scene with the dog is just... awful, it's blatantly clear that the actress is just not with the barking dog at her side, idk if it's possible to improve it.

Remove some of Laurie's moanings during the final act? Gets a little annoying and kinda makes her a little weak IMO.

Controversial, but maybe remove Michael killing Alice? The motif here is that he is still after Laurie, right? So he randomly entering houses and killing Alice is... weird, even more cause he just spared the old couple next door. Also, that death scene is quite bad anyway (talk about a lack of peripherical vision) so IMHO we'd actually be doing the movie a favor by leaving it out.

I wouldn't cut the "He came out of nowhere! I couldn't stop!". A little too exposition, maybe, but without it, it seems the officer was drunk or blind or hit him on purpose, it's weird.

24:15-25:34 - Honestly cut this whole pointless scene?

And, there's... something amiss here. Why is Laurie pretending to be in a coma (or is she really sedated, idk) and then just randomly limps off the hospital corridors to hide? There's NOTHING so far to indicate her that Michael would still be on her tail; and it's probably because of the dream cut. So maybe just have her laying down, freeze frame or almost, and then we hear some of the talking from the cut dream scene, like she's finally remembering something vital?

Loomis trying to shot Michael at the gas station, maybe change it so it doesnt look like michael is thin vanishing in front of his eyes?

I wouldnt cut Rachel running away from Michael while searching for Jamie. She doesnt need to know what is going on to be afraid of a masked man slowly coming towards her in the middle of the dark, halloween or not.

Trim down some of the characters at the house, like Brad at the attic or Kelly making coffee? Just goes on for a little too long with uninteresting secondary characters.

Cut Rachel saying "he's jamie's uncle" to Brad when the little traumatized girl is just there crying in her arms? Seems... kinda inconsiderate, to say the least.
