BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

I wonder why none of those sites require logins and use a tracker system based on credits. Doing that, they can stop you from DLing if you are always leaching. Like you need to have uploaded at least the same amount of data you've downloaded, you know? It's a system that seems to work.

i have personally decided not to use rapidshare as i paid for the service and it doesn`t seem to work as advertised, therefore why would anyone pay for lousy service when all you get is a message saying all servers are busy or all drives are full?

because Rapidshare is cool and it does exactly what they say it does. It hosts your files and you can download with monster speed. At least this is my Experience. I would not want to miss it.

I concur with Boon.

I have been usig RS for good on a year and a bit now, and after working out how to use it...I love it! :)

Well I have watched Saga of a Starworld,The Living Legend, and Experiment in Terra, and these are friggin nice, pretty damn good quality considering the age, they are DEFINITELY watchable, and very enjoyable, and I am watching on a 62" HDTV being upconverted by my OPPO DVD Player, the added\enhanced effects are very cool.

So if you are on the fence about these,go ahead and jump off, these are worth getting.

Thanks for these David Kerin, and to you Boon.

Actually no, it is just a fun fanboy trailer Mr. Kerin made. He says he might do a couple more fun trailers, but as for actual full BSG edits he says he is done for now.

Watch out for Lost Planet of the gods <-> Tombs of kobol in the Rapid Share Forums... :)

Hi Everyone...

I finally got around to registering here. Sorry for the delay. I'm really happy to hear you've enjoyed the edits. Absolutely loved doing them since the original BSG has been a favorite of mine since being a kid back in 1978. What fun to work with the footage.

I'm sorry they're no longer on torrent sites, but it became extremely irritating having so many leechers and so few seeders (major thanks to those who did seed). Disappointing thing to me is knowing how many did download the files yet themselves would not upload or share for the other fans out there. Which of course leads to the many thanks to everyone here for posting on rapidshare and doing your part to get them to eachother. Please feel free to make copies for anyone who may be interested.

And Zarius, glad you liked the BSG/Apes trailer. I would love to try something more with that, but with only 24 hours of original BSG to work from it gets a little tough on the logistic side. You never know though.

Not sure if I have any edits in mind for the future. However one that was going through my head was a Logan's Run edit. Not really an edit though as mainly trying to replace the City scenes. The matte paintings in the movie were beautiful, but the model city (especially the water) just did not cut it. Great design, poor execution. Maybe I'll try a test or two some time soon.

All the best,

Dave

ah, it is just great to finally have you here, Dave. Your fanedits are enjoyed by a lot of people and we have them all on Rapidshare for the time being, so anyone interested should be able to get them.
I think a special edition of Logan's Run with new shots of the city would be just great but a lot of work. However, I am sure you are the right one to get such a huge thing going.
Oh, btw. do you have any cover art for your BSG edits?

I did do some covers for the edits, although not Tombs of Kobol as of yet. I know there are some already up, but if I can find the files I'll add the ones I did.

Also, while not getting into huge edits on BSG again, I did do a couple minor fanedits to Gun on Ice Planet Zero and War of the Gods. They're also minor because there was not alot of stuff that I'd want to change in those as they are both pretty solid episodes. These I did for myself for the few little things I wanted to change. Off the top of my head though, here are some of the changes I did.

GOIPZ:
*Added in some deleted scenes from the series DVD set.
*New shot of 3 raiders flying over clouds as they approach Kree.
*Raiders firing lasers while forcing his fighter down.
*Newly created shot of Starbuck and Boomer flying over clouds to take out repeated shot.
*Newly created shot of Killian's fighter being destroyed to take out repeated shot.
*Shot of Raider exploding over snowy terrain when Starbuck shoots it with the Landram Turret.
*Energy effect around Kree when he is connected to the Mind Probe.
*Edited in different shots during the cylon fighers' attack on the fleet. However this was a cheat on my part as they are lifted from the Saga re-edit.
*New and alternate shots of the pulsar firing through and around the fleet.
*Added laser blasts from the blasters and Cylon rifles during the attack on the pulsar and garrison.

And for WOTG:

*Revised to show only 4 (correct number) of Vipers in openind scene.
*New shots of light ships (the glowing balls) to take out repeated shots.
*Shot of Viper being taken out of space with energy bolt by the large ship of lights.
*Added some deleted scenes from DVD
*Changed colors on scoreboard after Triad where Boomer's team wins to show Green for his and Red for Apollo/Starbuck.
*Added more of a glowing light beaming effect for the interior of the Ship of Lights.
*Added a devilish figure (taken from Iblis' devil image) inside the wreckage when Apollo looks in.

As I said these are minor and done basically for my own fun, but if you think you'd like to see them, I'd be willing to upload some xvid copies to a torrent.

Dave

by all means: yes :)

That makes me think of some CG cleanup I've always wanted to see: Frank Herbert's Dune miniseries.
Those blown up photographs for backgrounds look so fake. Sometimes I'd swear the actors were dangerously close to bumping into them.

It would be wonderful to see them replaced with real outdoor footage.

I've converted GOIPZ to xvid avi. Should be able to get that uploaded this weekend. Will let you all know as soon as it is up. Will also post it over at a couple of the battlestar forums.

EDIT... Just checked the xvid and there is major lip synk problems toward the end. Will have to see what happened there. Will update when I get it fixed.

Dave

please make a dvd version as well and not from your xvid source, thanks again--

If I can't figure out the lipsynk problem going to xvid, I may go ahead and only do a DVD version of each. I know it is alot more in file size, but quality is much better. This way I can also include the "Destiny's End" trailer in full resolution.

for works like yours, the release quality cannot be good enough.

As I'm thinking about it I will just do the DVD version. Takes a little more to download, but I know it is what I prefer.

Will try to get GOIPZ transcoded and saved as an ISO first and upload it this week. Busy tomorrow with Mother's Day, but after that will get that one going. After that one is up and running will to the War of the Gods.

I was in the midst of writing reviews for edits and I was very suprised no one has ever given any of your BSG edits a review. Once you made these available some months back I immediately went after them. I love the work you did. Perhaps if i can get more time, will write up a review covering all of them.

PS: yes the majority of us do prefer dvd versions than some compromised xvid release
