Vote anyway. If people only voted after they saw every edit, there would be zero votes.

I'm not saying I should see every edit in order to be able to vote, but considering that there's 50 edits to choose from and I've only seen 4, it doesn't seem fair. I think one should only be able to vote if they've seen more edits than the maximum vote count allowed per user. That way there's some thought that has to go into your choices.

Well, do as you please, but you're making up your own rules. If someone only saw one edit and liked it, they should feel no hesitation in voting for it.

Also, as a reminder, you are not picking the winner. You are nominating edits to be eligible to win.

I know, but every vote counts, and you never know which vote could be the deciding vote.

If you've seen only four edits, but felt that any of, or all four were worthy of being considered for FEOTY based on technical editing quality, narrative alteration and overall enjoyment, then your votes are valid and worth while. Just as voting for it can be the critical factor, so can NOT voting.

If the edit sucked or didn't do anything for you then by all means, do not vote, but if any of those four blew you away or made you say to yourself "Self, that was an awesome edit, I truly enjoyed it and glad so-and-so made it" then a vote is entirely fair. This is not a scientific poll, it is one where the community indicates the edits which they feel were worth of consideration.

And also, that slim margin you noted is the reason the Academy gets two wild-card selections. If after the final 10 are decided by vote there are a 2 edits which they feel were truly deserving but for whatever reason didn't get the needed votes, they can still include them in that first round.

Ultimately, as a sage Jedi once advised, "you must do what you feel is right, of course." But please consider that such circumstances were considered when the nomination process was created.

:)

And everyone, PLEASE VOTE!!

Thank you to everyone who voted!

The top vote-getters of the Public Poll are:

10 Ugly West, The
8 (fe) la vie 2.22
7 Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze - Detarnished!
7 Star Trek "This Other Eden"
7 Wolfman Super 8 Collection, The
6 Alien-Ate
6 Large's Ark
6 Star Wars: Renascent
5 Attack of the Clones: The Super 8 Cut
5 Godfather Chronological Epic 1901-1980, The
5 LOST: The Miniseries - Part 1
5 Smallville Destiny
5 Star Wars: Episode 1 - Return of the Sith

With a 5-way tie for the final two spots, and with two wild-cards at their disposal, the Academy has been given few options regarding how to resolve the 5-way tie.

As soon as they have decided which route they feel is most appropriate, we will update this thread accordingly.

^^ Color me pleased for The Ugly West.

An edit project that was a real pleasure to realise back in the day with Boon23.
We thought that editing 2 of the most well known westerns into interesting new versions would interest a lot of people
and the result (although being a success for us) did not completely "meet its audience", at least at the level we thought it could.
So it's nice to see some love for it. It looks like the ones who watched it are pleased with it.

I'm not sure if I should be making this announcement or an Admin but... The Academy has spoken. The two Wildcard selections by the Academy are Braveheart The Elerslie Edition, by CBB and Legion, by Spicediver!

Congrats!

The 23 edits that will move forward to the next round of voting are as follows:

  1. Star Wars Begins by Jabe Davdar
  2. Batman: Under the Red Hood - UA Edit
  3. Northwest Passage: A Twin Peaks Fanedit
  4. Star Wars Episode II: The Republic Divided by L8wrtr
  5. Watchmen: Midnight by Flixcapacitor
  6. L.A. Confidential Recut by Neglify
  7. Star Wars Return of the Jedi: The Spence Final Cut
  8. Dr. Jones and hte Skull Kingdom Mystery by Wraith
  9. Underworld Temptation by The Man Behind The Mask
  10. Quantum of Solace: Bond's Revenge by Last Survivor
  11. Star Wars Episode I: The Ridiculous Menace by TV's Frink
  12. The Ugly West by TMBTM & CBB
  13. (fe) la vie 2.22 by blueyoda
  14. Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze - Detarnished! by slark
  15. Star Trek "This Other Eden" by BionicBob
  16. The Wolfman Super 8 Collection by Rogue-theX
  17. Alien-Ate by TMBTM
  18. Large's Ark by L8wrtr
  19. Star Wars: Renascent by Asteroid Man
  20. Attack of the Clones: The Super 8 Cut
  21. Smallville Destiny
  22. Braveheart, The Elerslie Edition by CBB
  23. Legion, by Spicediver

EDIT: I think I speak for all Academy members when I say that wildcard selection was difficult. There were many excellent edits last year that were most certainly deserving of watching and having on this list of 23. But in the end there can be only 1.

Or two, but whatever.

:p

Yay! The Annual Awards is moving forward!

You mean you don't want the 2011 awards spilling over into 2013?!

Whatever happened to this?

The poll was for public voting. The Academy has been casting their votes for various categories and in a week or so an announcement will be made with the Nominations in every category.
