The Animation Consecution is now live!

Launch video:

Trailer:

Available both on DVD and to stream on Vimeo. More info on IFDB.

The poll has revealed Consecution 10's topic: Animation.

Rules:
1) Each short must be animated. There is a mountain sized list of movies/tv shows with this aspect so there should be plenty of stuff to work with. To make it a little closed, how about hopefully nothing related to superheroes, time travel, space, zombies. (they already have consecutions)

2) Minimum 5 minute length, maximum 15 minutes, with credits.

3) Ideally, there should only be one short per film/show/series, but if you can come up with a radically different use of footage than someone else who has claimed the same source material, I'm sure we can work something out.

4) We're still thinking about it, but we would suggest HD for a possible Blu-Ray release.

5) Have fun!

Possibly needed, someone who is a pro at making DVD/Blu-Ray menus.

To be clear, a 15-minute short will not count towards you becoming an approved "faneditor".

Deadline: March 1st, 2020.

Alright editors, let's get started! :)

I started prepping files for my Up edit.

17.5? I think shorts are generally better when there is more of a time constraint.

Hrmmm. I may have an idea for a Wall-E edit. Is there a deadline? :p

Never done these before, but perhaps I'll do Batman TAS.

I'm thinking January 10, 2018 maybe. perhaps May 5, 2018. August 17, 2018.

I suppose I could do the Grey Ghost episode to stay away from super heroes. Does animation include stop motion animation? I wouldn't mind doing a Kubo one.

Yeah, I think it could work. Animation is making things move by frames.

I'm thinking about a Futurama idea. No space or time travel though. Not sure if I could hit that deadline...

I myself am thinking of something about Tintin. (The movie or TV show I don't know, maybe both)

I'm thinking doing something with Rick and Morty, not too sure what. Maybe something just about Rick?

We'll see about that deadline though, depends where people are by then

That is potentially an unforgiving deadline, depending on how much time people can make for editing over the holiday season, but it can always be extended if need be. I think it's better to try and work to shorter deadlines and extend where necessary than have too much lead time at the start :)

I shall have to rummage through my discs and see what ideas start to come together.

January 10th might be an ambitious deadline, given that with Christmas/Hanukkah/Winter Solstice/New Year/etc approaching people have less free time (and less of it sober ;) ). Me personally, I've got family over for 2-3 weeks in December/January, so will be doing practically zero editing. An end of January deadline might give people more of a chance to let the egg-nog go down. Or see how submissions go for the next month and consider an extension later.

Anybody who has taken part in previous Consecutions (or organised them) think I'm being overly pessimistic?

As someone who has organized a consecution before, yeah, January 10th is unrealistic. I would suggest the following:

mid to late of February for submissions (you'll probably need to extend it)
15 minutes maximum (including credits)

I have an idea for a '60s Spider-Man cartoon short. I'll see if I can put it together before the deadline (and also if the idea even works).
