I think fanedit has become somewhat of a brand around here. It’s clearly “correct” to use fan edit. But sometimes the brand supersedes correctness. Even further still mispronunciation can supersede correctness as well. Good luck trying to get Americans to pronounce Teva or Adidas correctly (hmm, both footwear). I have a friend in the States that has worked for Adidas for 15 years and he pronounces it incorrectly. Though he knows the proper pronunciation, of course, he also knows that pronunciation isn’t recognized by most of his customers.
