Windows 8

Ugh, reading this on a phone...
 
Try using SlimDrivers. It scans the drivers on your computer and can then update for you. Might find something that will work.

Have you tried installing the Windows 8 drivers? If not give it a go.
 
You can also download the video drivers directly from Intel here.
 
Your other option is to install Windows 8 and put your moms quilting software in a Windows 7 VM (VirtualBox is free.) Not the most ideal solution, but it will give you the ability to use the newest drivers and the older software.
 
nOm is right. I missed the nVidia listing. That's what you want. Not sure if there is a difference between UK version and US, but you may want to get it from the US site.
 
The UK site spells "colors" wrong. :p
 
I think it's the pci driver that's causing the issue.
