This may seem like a silly question to all the seasoned veterans on the forums but I was curious to know why most people recommend demuxing the your dvd compliant mpeg for editing. I am a beginner and currently using Womble which im finding fairly easy to get a handle on. However I have simply been editing with the VTS files (audio and video together). Do other people on here edit audio and video together?

edit both together. you should not be editing the raw VTS files. demux and mux back into an mpg if you are using womble.

Whoa! Ok, very good to know. Thank you!

Wait, Throw are you recommending to edit the video and audio in one chunk? I would not recommend this at all, as you can't edit the video and audio seperately, which is extremely helpful in many cuts.

I'm going to assume that we're talking about different things, as I know better than to think that you edit that way.

we are talking about different things. I am talking about editing them together in the same software (i.e., not cutting the video in womble or vegas, and then doing the audio in audacity or something. You still want to separate your audio tracks in your project and make cuts independent of video cuts. But I recommend doing it all in the same software/session.

sorry for any confusion.
