If nothing else, it settles my own nagging doubts about whether or not Colin Farrell (who I actively dislike, but I realise the man has some talent, at least) would be able to pull off middle-aged gruffness. Looks good to me.
I loved the first series, btw. Including the ending.
Thought and noticed the same thing! The first season had shades of Lynch so I'm sure it was intentional.
