The Warriors - Theatrical Cut Reconstruction (HD) V2 Finished

Movie-Censorship already has a pretty damn good comparison list. They even include the spotlight shot TM2YC brought up.

Yes that's what I based version1 of this edit on, thinking it was accurate. But it missed loads of things out, as I'm discovering. It mentions a few zooms but misses others. That's such a great website... a bit too many torture-horror and porno films but still useful :-D.

Anymore updates ?.

There seems to be some possibility of the real theatrical cut being out there on one or more of the streaming services (The itunes one isn't the theatrical cut) so I'm holding back on this project until this is confirmed, or denied. I don't want to spend weeks slaving away on this, only for the real thing to suddenly get an official release and this project gets chucked in the bin.

Would someone be able to capture it in HD of one of the streaming services?. I remember watching The Warriors maybe last year on SKY movies and it looked fantastic, from what i remember it was 100% original cut of the movie.

This is from 1 of our files, as you can see this version looks pretty damn close to the DVD, we have an even better file and I now have the original intro/outro as well, we just need to gather extras now.

Hi dark jedi.

Interesting :). I made one of those comparison things of your 1st screenshot, to the same frame from my "reconstruction" project (I'm 99% sure it's the same frame):

The overall image quality is poor in comparison (Especially the weak colours) with compression and almost no grain present (Even to the parts of the image I've used the DVD to replace). However the edges are a little more defined than the DVD source and it shows a few extras pixels of information all around the shot.

Here's a comparison of your 2nd shot (Which basically doesn't exist anymore in the DC/Blu-Ray cut) with the same frame from the PAL DVD (Without any added grain/sharpening/contrast etc):

Again it's lacking colour/grain (With a few tweaks that could all be improved though) but it's so much sharper! :)

Okay here's one for you. What does this shot look like in your source(s)...?

(Click image ^ to see full resolution)

This is the very first frame of the fourth shot in the Riffs briefing scene, 20 minutes into the movie (Frame 28,818 of my project). If that shot isn't cropped either, I think you can be confident your source is the original unaltered cut. I can provide a few other random examples if that helps?

I was just showing 1 of what we have, I am not trying to compare what you are doing to what we are, so keep doing what you are doing and so will we, none of our video has been worked on yet, it is raw, if you are familiar with anything we do you can see that what we start with is nowhere near what we end with, and the DVD will not be used at all for image in our project(except for maybe color) only the audio.

I've seen some suggestions that there is a 5.1 mix of the theatrical cut out there. Surely not? If you are using the DVD audio I guess that answers that question. Glorious monophonic sound all the way.

Sweet. Not cropped at all :). I'm very interested in your project. It would be awesome to have just for the final scene (If nothing else). There is missing material everytime a comic panel was inserted, so this would be the best source for those shots. Are you going to be upscaling/adding-grain/re-grading etc the footage?

Oh and I left some notes on possible extras you could include on the BR over on the spleen. Hope it helps.

Upscaling? we have no reason for that, this is complete theatrical 1080p so no need to upscale, and my video guy will decide what direction to go in with the other stuff you mentioned, either way it will be very, very nice when done, I just need to find extras if any.

But knowing my video guy, it will definitely have color correction and I am sure more.

edit, if there is a 5.1 mix of the theatrical audio I sure would love to get my hands on it.

I meant due to you working from what I assume is a somewhat compressed streaming file (Regardless of the pixel count) you will be working to sharpen it and add grain and stuff like that, to make it appear "more filmic HD"... so upscaling basically.

By the way, I signed up for a free trial with Netflix and the version they have is the "almost" Director's cut. It looked quite sharp though.

Nope. I'm still waiting to see if a decent official version is likely to surface in the near future.

lol I don't know what you mean by "almost" DC, I am putting our file in sync with the DVD and it looks damn near identical, just minus all the white spots and dirt and stuff, so if you can provide even more pics of what you mean by this I would like to compare, the lights and that other pic of the Warriors zoomed in has already been proven it is theatrical, so what more proof is needed?

A likely official release? now that is funny, but we will see, I hope so to but I am no where near as confident as you are.

What?

Not sure how our color will look as of yet, my video guy says the DVD is not right, it is slightly shifted to orange, finally got it on sync to the DVD for the audio and working on sync'ing the 5.1 track, but we do now have a lot of extras.

Is that related to this project?
