Spider-Man 3: The Enemy Within

Whew it's been a while since I've thought about Spider-Man 3 since the release of my own Hybrid Cut. 
Since getting Venom on Blu-Ray solely for using part of the opening scene to explain the source of the symbiote, I've been thinking I'll get back to this at some point. 
The scene from Venom also names one of the astronauts by name, Jamison, implying it's the same John Jamison from SM2 that almost married MJ. So it'll be a neat cameo from him even though you can't make out who he is in-film. Cutting the Malaysian title card and dialogue too will be needed as not to set this too far from New York. 

After watching Problem Eliminator's Alien Costume edit, I was thinking of using audio of a new reporter talking about Jamison landing at Kennedy Airport, which would set this scene up so it wouldn't appear out of the blue. Not sure where to put it yet though, I'll figure something out. 
 
Looks like it's the time to ressurect an old idea and actually do some work on it, as this is now officially "In the Works"

I'm going to try and shift some things around at the start and cut some stuff, and not cut some others. I want to keep the broadway stuff and the montage so we can see what Pete has been up to, but trim it up a bit.

Here's whats been cut in the opening 20-ish minutes

- cut the kids walking away from the screen and Pete trying to lure them back
- cut Pete's "I'm so nervous" when the music starts as the 2 guys squash him
- cut most of the Harry and Pete dialogue in their confrontation outside the play
- cut most of Peter and MJ's talk backstage
- cut the cops rolling away as Marko watches
- cut Marko's ex-wife saying "you maybe even killed a man"
- cut Marko's ex-wife saying "you and the truth in a box..."
- cut Marko saying "I'm not a bad guy, just bad luck"and rearranged some shots to compensate
- cut Aunt May's story about Uncle Ben. It's not bad, it just slows the scene right down and drags quite a bit
- cut some of the struggle in the Harry/Pete fight before Harry cuts him
- trim some of Pete swinging and blasting web balls at Harry
- cut Pete's goofy close up as he's falling
- cut a close up of Pete's goofy face as he's being dragged across the building
- cut a cop telling Cpt. Stacy about Marko's whereabouts and his involvment in Uncle Ben's murder
- cut Marko punching a cop dog
- cut the scientists from the Sandman creation scene

Here's how the post-musical sequence starts and ends now

And the removal of the Aunt May story with a wipe over the camera and a musical transition
 
Here's a new cut of the MJ review scene with most of Peter comparing her to Spider-Man gone as well as the horse and dad stuff gone too, she's now interrupted by the police dispatcher as she ends prematurely. 

 
The cut down encounter with Eddie Brock after the crane incident as the "are you smiling?" and the bloated/chunky lines are now gone. Also at the tailend is the transition into the Bugle after the JJJ and Ted Raimi slogan/vibrating desk pill scene has been cut. 

 
As mentioned earlier in the thread, I'd still like to use the Venom film opening in some capacity even if it means doing a new voiceover or cutting it down to the barebones.

I'd want to explain that the Symbiote doesn't just drop out of orbit randomly, but currently I have no clue how to besides this very rough cut from my ideas thread. I won't intercut it with the New Goblin origin though however.

Edit looks fab so far, I can't believe i'm saying this as I am sick of this film, but is there a rough draft or something available, and if not will there be one soon.

I've only edited up until the Black Suit forms on Peter, so no not yet. I'll be happy to take previewers once it is ready though

Oh okay, excited to see this edit as it sounds quite a lot different to mine.
 
Here's my attempt at bridging the first two Black Suit scenes and trying to transition the score between the two and I can't tell if it works or not. The new shot of Spidey jumping off the building was taken from the trailer and then the shot in the film was masked into the shot towards the endm, which I hope isn't noticable. 

 
Nothing abrupt sprang out, looks pretty smooth to me.

Testing a voice modulation for Venom, lowing the pitch and adding some reverb

 
Removed most of the clapping and cheering as well as the news reporter from the beginning of the final battle. Sound design was a bitch to do as I basically redid it from the ground up with all the air wooshes, Maguire Grunts and web thwips. Not 100% but it's a work in progress. Removed some other stuff near the end too when Venom makes his apperence.

Yes, just reducing it a tad though as the joke isn't too bad, just overstayed it's welcome
 
An editor named The VooJooze made an edit of Spider-Man 3 where he used Bad Scooter's Redemption as the base while adding scenes from the Editor's Cut, since it was not out yet. It's fantastic, and one thing he does that I think is really cool is he added shots of Harry and Green Goblin while Peter is having nightmares. Here's a link to his version of that scene.

 I was playing with adding MJ and Harry into it, but I couldn't find a good way to do it. I'll approach this fellow and look into incorperating part of this or an altered version in some way, thank you!

In the meantime, I've got a preview cut up at the moment, if anyone wants to provide feedback, PM me
