I have been a faithful PlayStation follower since childhood. PS1 is a golden age for all other such gamers, and PS2 found a new frontier. Due to financial limits, I never bought an Xbox before, and while I believe PS has a gorgeous variety of games, I just don't know much about Xbox. That is to say, I would really love to enjoy the Halo games due to their reputation by story (gotta agree with nightstalkerpoet about tiresome shooter gameplay), amongst other Xbox games.
PS3 was the next step in gaming singularity, and it was a while after obtaining it before I enjoyed the new titles and ongoing franchises, such as Metal Gear Solid and God of War. Its generational titles like these that prompt me to follow Sony, and had I the means, I would enjoy both PS and Xbox, so I call B.S. on all the console wars amongst gamers hating on each other (just take a look at YouTube game comments for games!).
Furthermore, virtually all my games are single-player, so I don't go online with others on the latest questing or virtual wars against repetitive armadas (even though its nice to be social somehow). That said, I don't believe I would take advantage of all the social features of a PS4, since I believe the consoles are first and foremost for personal game playing experiences. Being backwards compatible and a Blu-ray player are excellent added touches, though.
So yeah, I'd like a PS4, but for me, its both too expensive and too soon to go on to the next great thing. As a gamer, I have a lot of territory to cover and not enough time and money to do it comfortably.
It's time that is the more precious commodity. Kingdom Hearts III and MGS5 FTW!!!
