Moved please.:)

Thanks

I desperately want to see this. I've been researching Welles for the past few months for an upcoming podcast about The Magnificent Ambersons.

I had been hesitant to watch the original movie for a while, and I was excited to see this fanedit. Once I finally bought the original I sat down to watch it... and turned it off halfway through. Yeah, I could immediately see the potential for something better.

Thankfully, TM2YC's version is miles above the theatrical. He remind us that not every movie needs a Hollywood boy-meets-girl story for the sake of having it. The editing was perfect and the B&W looked excellent. And all the extras were icing on the cake. Highly recommended.

A/V Quality - 10
Editing - 10
Narrative & Enjoyment - 9

Thanks for taking the time Neglify :) and for once somebody didn't say they hated the newsreel intro  although that's probably only because you forgot to ;-).

I'd be really interested in hearing your thoughts after/if you watch ever watch the original. For the most part, removing Claire Danes from the film was easy, too easy. If a romance can be edited out of a movie so easily without a trace, it should never have been there. Although I'll admit removing it from the final reel was a bit of a nightmare in places.

When I was first watching the News Reel I thought, "Eh this could have been shortened a little bit." But since the final runtime is just under 90 minutes and it did set up the time period pretty well, I didn't have a problem with it.

I've uploaded this fanedit to Vimeo and added it to the ifdb page.
