Compression issue when adding filter?

Has anyone else run into this problem when exporting clips that use any kind of filter effects like playing the video in reverse, flipping the picture and even sometimes with transition effects? All I'm trying to do is have a clip play backwards without compression marks, what is your go-to method for this?

Vegas handled reversed clips without problems every time I tried.

I'm going to have to look into trying Vegas. I've tried a bunch of different free editing programs and there's always some issue or other that makes it unusable for me so I was wary of paying for software only to run into similar issues. Good to know this going in at least, thanks.
