Finally get to see the version that this movie always should’ve been. So much of the excess is removed that adds way more focus on just Batman and Superman. I love that the story is presented as a sequel to the events of Man of Steel as opposed to the events of the Africa incident. This really brings all of the elements together in ways the theatrical and ultimate editions could not. The biggest improvement here is changing Lex Luthor from an annoying and weird performance to quite an intimidating presence by simply outsmarting everyone using his intellect and resources. He now feels more like an eccentric genius instead of a Looney Tunes character, and actually foils Superman in his own way without an elaborate master plan. It shows how much a story can work when there’s a much better villain. Overall this is the best version of the movie I think we’ll ever see and it’s a must watch if you want to see the potential that this movie had.
