Ad Astra: Cor Tenebrae edit:

I finally got to watch this edit and I am very glad I did! This edit seems less like a bloated epic with a lot to say, more like a contemplative meditation about escape, parenthood, and fear. With all the amazing cinematography.

I was worried that this film, cut down to just the father son relationship without all the narration would be just... preachy? But I love this. If feels like a short film in many ways, in the best ways. It said less, and let my own personal experience fit into the story more. It felt more personal. And the long beautiful space shots allow you to rest your "detective" mentality and sit back and reflect.

Technically there were only a few comments I would make, but nothing ever took me completely out of the movie, and considering the source material, I think this movie made great editing choices.
