Hi everybody,

Those of you that use XBMC might be interested in this. I made a scraper for fanedits that, for now, uses fanedits.com (a.k.a. originaltrilogy.com) for data. I chose not to use fanedit.org because the data here isn't structured as consistently and is harder to scrape.

It's fairly basic right now, but it's working in my limited tests.

Nice! I'm interested.

How often is fanedits.com updated, though? It seems kinda arbitrary what's on there. I guess it depends on user submissions? Besides, some only have a link to ot.com instead of a description, and none of the fanedits have cover art.

Still, great work!

It's user-updated, ya. I signed up for an account (different than my forum account) and was able to start putting info in right away. As I get myself organized, I'll start adding/updating content for things that I'm putting on my media center. Hopefully this will encourage others to start adding content too.

Moved to General FE discussions.

I like this idea and I would love if fe.org were more easily scrapable. That being said, would it make more sense to be submitting fanedits to themoviedb.org which basically exists for XBMC? As far as I know it allows whatever sort of entry.

If this is a good idea, I would say whenever a movie is submitted to fe.org an entry should also be created at themoviedb.org.

TheMovieDB does not allow fanedits or any other unreleased alternate or custom edit. There's a reason why you couldn't find Harmy's episode 4 to link to - it's deleted by the mods. It's a question of time before one of the mods discovers the rest of them (TMBTM's War of the Stars is also on there). Link
