When converting a multichannel audio to WAV (let's say 7.1 for example) from a Blu-ray, what's the proper order for when placing it on the editing timeline?

Is it like this?
Left
Right
Center
LFE
Left Side
Right Side
Left Back Side
Right Back Side

Or like this?
Left
Right
Center
LFE
Left Back Side
Right Back Side
Left Side
Right Side

That all depends on what software you're using. The first choice you listed will probably work out fine though.

for one piece of software I know, 7.1 breaks the order down the same way as in your first example:

Left
Right
Center
LFE
Left Side
Right Side
Left Back Side
Right Back Side

Top Bottom
