I couldn't find a thread like this, so here we go.
I listen to a lot of music. My favorite bands in no particular order are
Nirvana
System of a Down
The Megas
The Protomen
Crush 40
Disturbed
Ninja Sex Party

I enjoy
Slipknot and Korn, but I don't listen to them enough to say if they're favorites.

I'm starting to get into
R.E.M, and I love them.
Smashing Pumpkins- I've heard two songs by them that I love.

My favorite singers are
Aurelio Voltaire
Jonathan Coulton
Avril Levigne

I'm starting to get into
Bob Dylan, because of Watchmen.

I also love AmaLee/LieandLee, she does wonderful covers of anime theme songs, I'm a sucker for it all.

For CDs I physically own, I have like 5 Disturbed CDs, and Iowa by Slipknot.

I'll have to check out Ninja Sex Party, awesome name.

Ninja Sex Party is amazing. It consists of Danny Sexbang and Ninja Brian. Danny is more well known for being the co-host of the Game Grumps YouTube channel.
They're music consists of sexual comedy and fantasy themes, as well as ninjas. They also have two really good cover albums.
Haven't listened to their new album yet, but I recommend anything from the first three albums. Manticore, Dragon Slayer, I Just Want to Dance, Everybody Shut Up, Attitude City, and You can do Us are all good, to name a few songs in particular. Oh, and 6969.

Depeche Mode
Green Day

Both bands I need to listen to more. Love every song I've heard by them.

Also, Neglify has some good ones on his list. Haven't heard anything from Digimodification's list, other than some of the composers.

Stevie Ray Vaughan, Led Zeppelin, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Children of Bodom, Kalmah, Slayer, Northern, Collective Soul, Alice Cooper, no particular order.

Led Zeppelin I really need to listen to more of. I've only heard one song by them, and I think you can guess which one.

I don't like Pink Floyd, and for years I constantly got the two mixed up for some reason.

I'll admit, I'm a youngin.

You've heard a lot more than that, you just don't realize you have.

I don't like Pink Floyd, and for years I constantly got the two mixed up for some reason.

This cracks me up since they're so massively different in almost every way.

Anyway, it's hard for me to pick favorites, so I'll just go with what I've been listening to recently:

Dead Sara
M83
Dr. Dog
Radiohead
Muse
Bedouin Soundclash
Secret Machines

The classics, Beatles, Beach Boys, Stones, Floyd, Zep, are all good in their own way. Love the Beatles in particular.

But my favorite is stuff like:
The Rapture (album: Pieces of the People We Love)
Arctic Monkeys (album: Whatever You Say I Am That's What I'm Not)
and The Hives (album: Tyrannosaurus Hives).

Modern post punk / dance rock kinda stuff.

Also Daft Punk (album: Random Access Memories)

Recently got into the synthwave genre, and specifically the artist Perturbator, but also the genre as a whole in random playlists on Spotify or YouTube. Good to work to, imo.

Ooh, Perturbator's good stuff! "Sentient" is on heavy rotation on a few playlists of mine.

You are probably right.

It's the same way I used to get Clerks, Pulp Fiction, and Seinfeld mixed up with eachother. I hear mention of things when I'm younger, and they just blend together.

More bands that I enjoy but don't listen to enough.

Oh, I'd like to add to my original list. I absolutely love Styx, another of my top bands. I actually saw Dennis DeYoung live earlier this year.

Way too many to list.  I'll just go with what is in heavy rotation for me right now, pulled from the "Recent" tab on my phone's music player.

The Beatles are awesome, but I only really listen to them from time to time, I don't usually purposefully go to listen to them. I'm more interested in them in aspects other than their music.

Try listening to Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band (the Beatles album) from beginning to end, without skipping tracks or anything. Maybe in the car or at work/in class. If the whole album isn't stuck in your head for the next week at least, they're probably just not your thing. But it probably will be stuck in your head for more than a week.

I used to do a lot of "just listening" with music when I was younger, now I tend to do a lot more secondary listening whole doing something else. I'm less picky than I was back then, but the stuff I enjoy doesn't "speak to me" as much anymore. I played in a band for years though and probably got burnt out on the whole concept.

I was invited by a local band to sit-in last spring for a Beatles tribute show. I was tasked with coming up with arrangements for the setlist. We had no keys, so that was challenging for songs like Strawberry Fields and I Am the Walrus. Ultimately I put together a lot of demos and the show ended up being canceled because the lead singer was getting married and didn’t have the time to rehearse. Still, it ended up being a fun exercise that really revealed a lot about their music for me. I also do the Abbey Road B-Side suite in my solo acoustic set.
