I have not yet tried this out so I can't vouch for it's effectiveness but I was searching for avisynth rolling credits in google and came across this:

Crap. upon further review this is only useful for HD digital camera video and stuff. Not quite for our needs. Mods feel free to delete. Sorry for making a sorta useless thread. I'll be more careful next time.
