Trouble with clip in timeline

I have a clip in PPro 1.5. It plays ok in media player and in the preview pane of PPro when I edit it.
However, when I drop it onto the time line, part of the clip becomes unwatchable. It stays like this when I export it.
I have ripped the chapter several times using several methods and bitrates but have had the same result every time.
I have trimmed the bad frames out but this makes the explosion (the part where the picture breaks down) look very weak.

Anybody got any ideas what is going on here?
Solutions also welcomed :)

Which codec are you using to capture the footage?

I ripped it from the disc with Xilisoft dvd ripper and ended up with an mpeg4 file. Premiere deals with this without a problem until I drop it onto the time line then I get 5 or 7 frames of coloured squares filling the screen.

I tried using decryptor. I then needed to convert to avi for premiere but TMPGenc decided it would not even look at the clip.

I tried dropping the clip into AE but it showed to bad frames as well.

VLC and Windose Media Player bith play the clip fine.
