A place to list movies we discover that have clean center channels*. Perhaps this will provide fun headache-free first-time editing options for those new to fanediting :).

(* By "clean center channels", I mean a movie that has a center surround-sound channel, that is free (Or virtually free) from music. This is actually pretty rare... sadly ).

Okay, the list. The following movies have music-free channels...

24: Season 7 (TV Show) (PAL DVD)
Arrow (TV show) (Season 1 and 2 blu-ray)
Attack on Titan Season 1 (Blu Ray has a perfectly clean centre channel for the english dub)
Blade Runner (Final Cut DVD. Will Double Check)
Black Panther (center channel pretty clean)
Boogie Nights (Blu-Ray. Very clean)
Clone Wars, The: CGI Version (TV Show) (All episodes, not movie)
Crazies, The (2010 film) (US Blu-Ray)
Dexter (blu-rays, UK at least, clean centre channels except voice-overs leak into the other channels)
Doctor Who (TV Show) (New-Series 1-7... probably)
Drive (US Blu-Ray)
Dunkirk (almost completely music-free)
Escape From L.A. (US Region-Free Blu-Ray. 100% clean)
Expanse, The (Season 1 Blu Ray) (100% clean)
Garden State (DVD mostly clean)
Grosse Pointe Blank (At least several scenes clean. Rest unverified)
Halloween: Resurrection (Blu-Ray)
Halloween II (2009) (Blu-Ray)
Independence Day (US Blu-Ray mostly clean)
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The
Man Of Steel
(DVD. UK-Blu-Ray mostly clean)
Masters of Horror (TV Show) (Episode 8 at least)
Matrix, The (Mostly clean. Original 1999 US DVD)
Mortal Kombat (1995) (Blu-ray, 90% clean)
Natural Born Killers
Paprika (Anime)
(PAL-DVD. Almost completely clean)
Resident Evil: Extinction (DVD)
Room, The
Saw 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7
(maybe 5 and 6?)
Starship Troopers 3 (DVD)
Tenet (60% clean in the center channel for the DTS-HD 5.1 audio track on the R1 Blu Ray)
Terminator: Dark Fate
Transformers: The Movie
(UK "Reconstructed" DVD)
Underworld: Theatrical Cut (PAL DVD 95% free)
Valerian and the city of a thousand planets (UK Blu ray has a very clear central channel)
Virtuosity
Zack & Miri Make A Porno
(Unconfirmed)

^ These "Clean" tracks may only be clear on specific regions, or formats, so I'll list this info when available. However, that doesn't mean that the channel isn't clear on all the other formats/regions too.

If you know of other movies, please post below and I'll add it to this first post (Some format/region info would be great too).

Honourable Mentions...

Short Circuit (R1 Blu-Ray. Has an alt.track free of all dialogue)
Star Trek Into Darkness (Compendium Edition Blu-Ray) - Has absolutely zero dialogue in all channels (except the center). Music is quite low in center channel. Making audio editing pretty easy.
Ghostbusters 2016 (Blu-Ray) - Music is loud in the center channel but there is almost no dialogue bleed into any other channel. So dialogue removal isn't too bad.
Terror, The - Center channel has no dialogue.

I think the center track on the final cut dvd of Blade Runner is pretty damn clean.

I don't remember if the channel is free for the entire movie, because it's been about 6 years since I edited it, but I know that there was a channel that was free of music for the opening scene in Zack & Miri Make A Porno.

Thanks all, that's a good start. Damn wish I'd checked KOTCS as I'd have done a little more rescoring on that for sure.

Man of Steel.

The entire run (I believe) of the TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The movie Virtuosity, which I'll some day get around to finishing my edit of. Unless someone else wants to do all the hard work? Hint.

Oh, and the Masters of Horror episode Cigarette Burns* is too. Another edit I'll probably never finish. ;)

*The other episodes may be too, but I've never bothered to check.

I'm actually surprised by this. I have tried a fair amount of soundtrack replacement/removal, and I haven't found the center channel to be all that clean, at least not in the version I have. What source did you use, njvc? If there is a clean(er) version out there, I'd love to hear about it :)

Great idea for a thread, BTW, TM2YC!

Bloody hell is it! :) I've been putting off doing a MOS edit for ages, knowing that I wanted to work in much more of the epic new Zimmer hero theme thing.

This raises a good point. Maybe sometimes clean tracks are only available on certain editions. So please if possible let me know what format (DVD/BR) and what Region (US/UK/Eur/Aus etc). Thanks

Oh wow that was directed by John Carpenter and stars Udo Kier. I had no idea.

Metrodome's ‘Reconstructed’ UK DVD of Transformers: The Movie (1986) has an almost-clean center channel. Blueyoda used it for his Attack of the Score edit.

Portions of The Matrix's original 1999 Region 1 DVD are. There's certainly portions with music bleed, but there's a lot to work with. Of particular note is the club scene in which Neo first meets Trinity. Despite the extreme volume of the Rob Zombie music in the surround channels, the center is 100% devoid of music. Subtle sound effects, such as footsteps and a lighter being lit are in there, where they would be otherwise completely buried.

Man Of Steel

Is that the Blu-Ray or the DVD you're referring to?
Because I've been walking around with the most awesome idea ever for Man of Steel, and if it's the Blu-Ray, then GREAT RAOH this is going to BE A BLAST! *Cough**.... Sorry. Lost my composure... If it's the Blu-Ray, I'm going to do Man of Steel after I finish Superman Returns :)

The DVD. Unknown if the Blu-ray is too.

I can use the footage from the Blu-Ray and use the audio tracks from the DVD :) Going to go 2.0 anyway :p

I used the Man Of Steel BluRay (Region B) for my source, and it was mostly clean on the centre channels, but not entirely.

Center channel free of music:

- Underworld (Theatrical cut part 1) PAL DVD (maybe some music bleeding just a tiny bit on 1 or 2 scenes, but 95% free of music)
- 24 season 7 PAL DVD (I suppose the other seasons are too)

I know the Resident Evil Extinction DVD does. I haven't checked the Blu-ray, but I'd wager it does.
