The story behind your nick/avatar

As a HHGTTG obsessive, I must have listened to the original two radio series (Primary and Secondary Phases) hundreds of times over the years, Marvin is my favourite character.

In the early 2000's I started playing Subspace (now it's called "Continuum") and chose "futon" because I wanted something short, mundane, and definitely not taken. Afterwards, I started using some variation on "futon" for any random signups I needed (eg. twitter, forums like this one). The number eighty-eight just happens to be my favourite number from when I was a kid, so I went with futon88 for this forum, since "futon" must have been taken, at the time.

For the avatar, the white eight looks a little like two cotton futons stacked, evokes the idea of "88" even though only one "8" is visible, and ALSO looks a bit like the generic "user" icon we've come to know, which appeals to me.

If I hadn't explained it already TM2YC, or "Take Me To Your Cinema" is a line spoken by the blind mother in the 1960 film 'Peeping Tom'. The weird way she says it stuck in mind. The line is 2-mins into this scene:

Another guy on youtube with the same handle has edited together a nice short piece on the theme:

The bartender from the Simpsons (unintentionally misspelled). I was avatar-less for a long time, but saw an AI generated collection of what Simpsons characters would look like in real life and thought the Moe would be appropriate.

That's not what you really look like?

Aww...man...just when you think you have gotten to know someone...

That's a play on words that only a very few people will get. Also. The Skull goes with that. The original alias was ArtisDeadMan. But I didn't like the sound when I said it.

Nope. Shocker I know. By the way, who is Art and why did you kill him?
And I thought you were such a handsome man.

I'm actually an innocent bystander who is stating that art is dead, man. Like Solomon said, "There is nothing new under the sun."

Humanity (or the lack thereof) continues to go around in circles consecutively and perpetually.

Is it just me, or does Moe's icon look like John Cena? I swear I saw someone else bring that up, but I can't find it.

I was looking for a name that meant to take apart, or split, like the movie files we split.

Reave:
Verb, archaic. To split, tear, break apart or tear apart.

Awww....there goes the mystery...

For the longest time I just used my real name for almost all of my social media/forum accounts, until I wound up in the unfortunate situation of having my Facebook and Twitter accounts cloned.

When I signed up here I decided that since I was starting off with a Star Trek edit I'd go with a similarly-themed username, so I took it from the genetically-engineered tribble scene in Picard Season 3, and applied it to all my socials.

If you come across an Attack Tribble in the wild, mighty or otherwise, it's probably me.

I'm an LGBTQIA+ affirming libertarian socialist omnist.

Though I know my avatar just looks like a dart board shrunk down. 😄

I love reading through the lore of you people lol

I dunno. I enjoy Wes Anderson movies for the most part. I thought Saoirse Ronan as Agatha in the Grand Budapest Hotel was EXCELLENT. Someone you'd just fall in love with. And she's got a Mexico-shaped birthmark on her cheek which is fun. That's what this avatar is.

Name comes from the Ring Cycle.
