original movie: THE ROCK
intention: get rid of annoying jokes and some over the top scenes.
status: audio and video editing and encoding finished.
Description:
Now this is a true fanedit, a fanedit for true fans, because it does not change so much from the original movie but to get it rid of some annoying parts that bug you when you watch it for the 3rd or 4th time (or at least they bug me more and more).
What I always disliked about The Rock were the lame joke comments from the statists and the funny comments that felt sometimes so displaced ("I hope you are insured."). Still I really dig this movie, it is for me one of the finest action movies ever created with a great pair of stars, really adding a lot to each other (Connery and Cage). My fanedit is 10 minutes short to the original and from the preview I can say it is faster paced, because less distracting. I spent a long time over a scene which I never liked: the rollercoaster mourge scene. And the final decision was: it's gone. Now there is a little problem in taking it out, I know, but in fact it only clarifies an already existing logical problem. Find out yourself or not at all what I am talking about. I would have loved to cut the bomb drop on the rock, but that was plotwise not possible.
Finally I have THE ROCK like I always wanted to watch it.
To be released pretty soon.
