Fanedit Film Name: The Last of the Mo'Ricans
Faneditor Name: Adabisi
Original Film Name: Carlito's Way
Fanedit Type: FanFix
Original Running Time: 145 minutes
Original Release Date: 1993
Fanedit Running Time: 90 minutes
Fanedit Release Date: December 2012
Amount of time cut: 55 minutes

Trailer:

Brief Synopsis:
Less romance. More Gangster.

Intention:
I'm a huge fan of gangster movies, but can't stand the romance angle that's always tacked on to them. Ask anyone what the best parts of Donnie Brasco, Casino, Heat, etc are and no one will say "the love story". Carlito's Way is no different. When we're focusing on Carlito the (former) gangster - great. When we're focusing on Carlito and Gail's relationship - meh. So, I decided to remove the character of Gail, and all references to her, completely from the movie. I also decided to remove Pachanga's betrayal. Because with Gail gone, it was just too cruel to have him go out with no friends.

Cuts:
-removed the opening scene, moved part of Carlito's narration in the opening scene to the final scene
-removed all scenes involving Gail
-removed Lalin talking to Carlito about Gail
-removed Sasso warning Carlito about Pachanga, moved Carlito's narration during this scene to just before he enters the hospital
-removed Carlito telling Pachanga to get Gail to meet him at the train station
-removed the reveal of Pachanga's betrayal and Pachanga's death

Disclaimer: This isn't exactly my best fanedit. It has some flaws and, if you decide to watch it, you'll probably notice them. I've taken the concept as far as I can take it and rather than leave it sitting on my hard drive, I'm releasing it. I think it's a solid 6 or 7 out of 10 and if you're a fan of gangster movies, you'll enjoy it.

Wow, thanks for the review Neg. You're far more forgiving on the edit than I am, but I suspect that's a common theme with faneditors. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for taking the time to watch and review!

Yeah, I can be quite an easy-going reviewer, usually if it's something I love watching.

Oops. Uh... I change my rating to a 7.5 across the boards.

Thanks to you for making a cool edit! BTW, what is the logic behind the strange billing order in the opening credits?

You mean having it go Leguizamo->Guzman->Penn->Pacino->Title? Two reasons:

a) I like having credits that "build up" to the star, rather than having credits that mention the star first and then "oh, these other people are in it too"
b) I wanted to have Pacino's appear before the title of the edit, because he is The Last of the Mo'Ricans.
