This is just some covers that I did for my own fanedit DVD collection, so I thought why not share them here. They are really simple (maybe quite generic) but I like it, the black spines were done for patterning purposes. Some are IFDB edits, some are not. All credits goes for @theryaney for the wonderful Criterion-styled covers, that I just tweaked a bit.

The covers contained in this gallery are as follows:
  • 2010 - A Space Epilogue
  • A.I. - The Kubrick Edit (non-IFBD)
  • Avengers - Assembled
  • Bateman Begins - An American Psycho
  • Batman - Gotham's Knight (non-IFBD)
  • Batman Forever - The Red Book Edition
  • Bram Stoker's Dracula - The Silent Version
  • Cosmogony
  • Darkly Dreaming Dexter
  • Dune - Deluxe Edition
  • Dune - The Alternative Edition Redux
  • Frank Hebert's Dune - The Spence Edit
  • Game of Thrones - Film I: A Tale of Kings and Honor
  • Game of Thrones - Film II: A Storm of Swords
  • Game of Thrones - Film III: A Feast for Crows
  • Game of Thrones - Film IV: A Roar for Vengeance
  • IT - A Film
  • Justice League Grindhoused
  • Kill Bill - The Shogun Assassin's Cut (non-IFBD)
  • Kill Bill - The Whole Bloody Affair (TheMilkmanConspiracy's Version)
  • Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - The Red Apple Cut
  • Pulp Empire
  • The Beast in Me
  • The Godfather - Don Vito's Opus
  • The Godfather - Michael's Opus
  • The Hobbit - The Book Edit (non-IFBD, yet)
  • The Hobbit - The Maple Films Edit
  • The Hobbit - The Two-Hour Edit (non-IFBD)
  • The Killer Bride
  • The Killer Bride - The Japanese Cut
  • The Titanic
  • There and Back Again - A Hobbit's Tale (Matt Skuta's edit) (non-IFBD)
  • Twin Peaks - Fire Walk With Me: Teresa Banks and The Last Seven Days of Laura Palmer
  • William Must Die
  • Wizardhood (non-IFBD)

I made those cover using some poster I found online on The Poster Database, some I did myself (or modified in some way), and some are the original poster of the edits. There are more that I will eventually do for some of the edits that I have here, and I will post it (maybe in the same gallery or in a second one).

If we had a Criterion Collection of fanedits, yours probably would have a nice place on it ;)

We do have a "Criterion Collection" so to speak, thanks to your efforts....works for me...

Maybe we should have a poll of some sorts....everyone picks their top 10, and collate scoring based on cumulataive positioning... or take review rankings...which is a tad more objective...#

or a blend of both 50:50....weighting, and the top 50 make the grade...

Just a thought

Wonder if we should have spine n⁰, but it's a tad unlikely I think...

Spine numbers in rank order..
Tie break no. of reviews then review rank then top ten ranking lowest scores…. Since lower the score, higher the rank…1 point for top slot, 2 points for second and so on…

I do think is too complex, the best idea were to be a release date order, so The Phantom Edit for instance (that I am going to upload the cover for it someday) would be spine n⁰1, but for that we would still have a list of every single one fanedit ever uploaded online, from IFDb, Original Trilogy, YouTube,Vimeo, original sites, Reddit, etc. In my honest opinion that would be the best spine order. Or just, you know, don't have a spine order and let people order as they wish (but spine n⁰ would be very neat still)

I like release order… maybe a review rating threshold, and if over, it get the next spine number in release order. Agree Phantom edit is 001

Just found out that there's actually a list of all online edits on Reddit done by @Heavisyde , apparently the first ever fanedit online was Matrix: Rebirth - The UNIGMA Cut released in 2000, although I don't see A.I. - The Kubrick Edit released in 2002 and edits like Eyes Wide Cut, and edits from march 2021 to now are nowhere to be seen.

Still, a really noble endeavor for someone to endure, if we go by this list, over 3000 edits are online, surpassing even the Criterion Collection.

These are great - i do love the style of the Fanedit collection covers and have made a few for my own edits. They look great on the shelf. Are you able to make printable BLURAY covers for these...i'd love to print a few.

Sure thing! I'll just complete some more DVD covers for my collection, and then start to working on the BD covers.

Thanks for pointing those out to me, I've added The Kubrick Edit and Eyes Wide Cut to the list. WIth regards to the Unigma Cut, that was releaed on VHS in 2000 but online in 2009, so I've moved that down the list. I believe The Phantom Edit was indeed the first edit to be released online. Haven't updated it regularly since March 2021, it's mostly complete up until that date.

Some great artwork! I can’t wait to see your Blu-Ray versions as I have many of these fanedits in my collection. And as to the streaming service edits, I know that editing those can’t be discussed or approved, as you can’t own the source, but I’m not sure the rules on artwork. You are not spreading the edit, just making cover art for it, and showing that. However I’m not an admin, so I’m sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

I am loving these and I am waiting to see the BluRay versions too. I love the Star Wars Despecialized covers, cause they remind me of the VHS covers of the original trilogy that I grew up with.

Very cool.

I Love the whole collection aspect, as I am a fan of the Criterion Collection too. I even tried to make covers too, and your Cosmogony cover knocks mine out of the park; in a good way. :)

Keep on the good work.
