what kind of fanedit: Extended Edition
tagline: Death Is Never Permanent
original film name: The Crow
new film name : The Crow: Extended Edition
film studio name : Miramax/Dimension Films
edit crew name : Aztek463
Date Original Film Was Released : May 11, 1994
Date Edit Was Released :
Original Runtime : 101 minutes
New Runtime : ~~ 105 minutes
Summary of film: The Crow tells the story of Eric Draven, a man who returns from the dead, and with the help of a crow, takes revenge on the people who murdered him and his fiance.
Amount of time Cut/Added : About three-and-a-half minutes added
Cuts removed/added/extended : All extended scenes from the two-disc DVD have been included:
- Extended arcade bombing
- Extended Funboy fight scene
- Extended Top Dollar Shoot-out
Additionally, I added a brief fade-in to the Dimension Films logo at the start of the film.
Fanedit details:
- Color/B&W*
- NTSC 16:9 (1.85:1) SL
- Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
-Static Menus (no music)*
Your intention for this fanedit: My intention with this edit was to create a longer, fuller version of The Crow. I am aware of at least one other deleted scene (The Skull Cowboy) and if I ever find a high quality version of that, it will be included in a subsequent release.
Your way to achieve your intention: Cutting, pasting, dragging, fading...etc
Hardware and software information:
- DVD Decrypter
- Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD
- TMPEGEnc 4 Xpress (exporting the final product)
- DVDlab Pro 2 (disc authoring)
- ImgBurn (testing the final product)
Additional Comment: This fanedit is dedicated to the late, great Brandon Lee, who met his untimely death during the making of this film.
Time needed for the edition: 2 days (editing) - 3 days (finding and fixing issues, and lots and lots of re-exports)
persons involved: Aztek463

You may notice that the files are all labeled "Disc 1". There is, in fact, a disc 2 in the works. This version will be identical to disc 1, except it will be in black and white (with a dash of color for some scenes and a tripped out effect for "CROW-O-VISION"). Additionally, the film will begin in full color and fade to B/W during the opening scene (still experimenting with this, but I think I've got it down).

Note: items marked with an asterisk (*) will either be included on disc 2 or fixed/updated in a subsequent release. Also, this could use a cover *hint hint wink wink*

UPDATE: All archives are now present and accounted for.

Thanks boon :D

I made a few minor changes to the info in the first post, as well.

EDIT: It has come to my attention that one of the archives is missing. I'll be sure to upload it ASAP when I get home. Sorry >.<

Ok, here is my review of this fanedit.
Now as a way of setting this up I must mention that i do know Aztek463, he reviewed my KILL BILL X so intelligently and incisively that i thought he was older than the 14 years he had at the time.
Also I don't hold any hatred or animosity towards him.
Sometimes I have been accused of being unduly harsh and insensitive.
But that is not my intention, I just call it like I see it.
So Aztek463 if you are ready for this read on...

The Crow: Extended Edition
Just finished watching it.
As explained on the post, it is a plain dvd menu with no music.
I hit play. Video is nice. Aspect ratio seems correct. audio is clear.
i hadn't seen this film since it's original release. At the time I thought it was cool but strangely enough I never tried to watch it again.
And as i watch Aztek463's extended edition I understand why: It's quite overindulgent and over the top.
It could use a real fanedit.
But for now this EE is doing a fine job. Aztek463's edits are clean and seamless. it is obvious that the faneditor took his time and a lot of care to make this work. The only way I recognize the added footage is by the degradation of the image from the deleted scenes.
Does it add anything new? well if you love this film then yes it adds more bang and flash. And that is all that is required of these EE.

On a technical level the video and audio are great.

On the editing level it is spot on.

On a story/entertainment level this EE gives you more bang for your buck.

On my street-wise rating system I give this film a

GREEN LIGHT: If you loved the original, you'll dig the EE!

this fanedit is unavailable since the creator has deleted the files.
Some people might have it though. An upload would be appreciated. Or maybe a trade can be organized, so someone can upload it.

Fear not, I have not forgotten about The Crow. I need to make a few minor alterations to the DVD, and I'll upload it again.

I would also like to view this. Always loved The Crow and always wanted any versions I can get hold of, especially Extended Versions :) ... I have the Workprint copy and that version was interesting but shame about the quality even though it's well watchable :)

I'm afraid that I've lost track of the discs I had burned myself plus my digital copies of the disc media. My deepest apologies. :(
