I didn’t know much about Criterion other than the company’s name and basic function until a few years ago when I started collecting blu-rays in general and after buying a few of my favorite films that are in the Criterion catalogue I became a big fan of the quality products that they put out. Every month or so I’ll buy a couple. What’re your opinions, which films do you have, which films do you want, which films should Criterion release if they can? Anything Criterion is up for discussion here.

I’m most excited for the David Byrne film True Stories, which is coming out in November. That’s one of my favorite films that has never been out on blu-ray before, plus the special features look interest.

Well, sorta.  They have a few foreign TV mini-series, Dekalog, Eight Hours Don't Make a Day, and I think a couple others that i just don't remember.  No mainstream TV shows or anything.

Eh close enough.  I can save @"reave" some real dough by not wasting the three clicks needed to move the thread.

You owe me reave, big time.

Did I fuck up the thread placement? I thought since the blu-ray/DVD thread was in Off-Topic then this thread should be here too.

Like I said it's fine.  There are separate TV and Movie subforums and the blu/dvd isn't exclusive to either, which is why it's here.  Technically this one probably belongs in the Movie subforum but I'm not too worked up about it.

By any chance, is there a Criterion release for the 2003 Hulk? Asking for a friend.

Edit: Checked the site, only two Ang Lee films, and neither is Hulk.

Are you saying Hulk 2003 isn't classic art?

Hulk has never been considered classic art. Have you seen the IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes scores of it? I tried watching it once but it was so boring and so ridiculous at the same time. I turned it off after the Hulk dogs.

I know Ang Lee wanted to make an arthouse take on the character. I was a kid around 13 plus I was expecting something else when I first watched it, and I probably need to watch it again. But as far as I remember the characters were weak and the movie didn’t know what it wanted to be.

Regardless of my feelings it’s clear it’s not a classic.

@"jrWHAG42" Lol, I probably didn’t make my point clear enough. You can love the movie and think it’s an underrated gem. I think the same for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Like I said, I was just a kid when I first saw Hulk and would probably need to see it again before judging it. I’m not making any comment on the film’s quality, I just gave my personal first impression.

What I’m trying to say is that it’s not considered a classic by most people like Ang Lee’s other films are, which is why it’s not part of the collection.

Sorry, my whole Hulk thing is a big joke. Please ignore me.
