Superman III - Dangermouse Cut

I perfer this than the original film and I will be watching this edit if I ever want to watch Superman III in the future. Superb. I wonder if anyone has dared to venture into Superman IV territory? I'm not sure if anyone could save that film though!

Glad you enjoyed III. It's a fun movie once all the crap's removed.:)
I have no intention of editing 4! :) The problem with 4 is the FX are lousy, and although it starts off well, it suddenly goes completely off the rails with a smash cut to the fight in front of the Planet, without explaining why Nuclear Man is interested in "the girl", and, more importantly, why Superman knows this. Bah, it's a mess.

Superman III... a true love hate relationship I have with this movie. I love all the Smallville/Lana Lang/Evil Superman elements. I hate pretty much everything else... LOL! And yet, I probably watch this movie about once a year... though with my finger on the fast forward button.

So I was very curious about this edit. Can Superman III be truly decrapified?

The new opening was definitely a step in the right direction. A very clever and simply solution. Bravo!
I like the new intro of Gus. I never bought his computer "genius" role in the original, but now it feels more acceptable.
All the cuts made were good choices and a step in the right direction. It is significantly better. But from a personal taste point of view, I wish this edit had been even more aggressive, as this edit is still overflowing with typical Lester hijinks and smelly cheese. Though how much more could have been cut with out the movie devolving into a choppy mess I can not say. I do wish somehow the meeting between Lois and Lana could have been cut. To this day, when I see Lois's expression when looking at the ring, it feels very cruel and hurtful.

But if you have been on the fence about viewing this edit, I would recommend it to my fellow Superman fans.

I initially felt the same as you Bob - but more. BUT once I started cutting everything that irritated me the movie was about 40 minutes long.... I felt that this was a good, watchable, still enjoyable, compromise. It's a Lester film, unfortunately, but fortunately we now have the power to tone him down. MWAAHAAAAHAAA!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and to post a review. :)

Yes, I seriously need to see this. The Richard Pryor angle made this one of the largest disappointments of my entire childhood lol.

This is most defiantly better than the original.

However the original is almost irredeemable. I enjoy the Lana stuff a lot and enjoyed a select few moments like the fire save. But when we have so many superhero movies right now with verisimilitude its hard to watch as the once great series dives into material that frankly is no better than the George Reeves show. I am just to old and too used to a Superman that makes me suspend my disbelief that this kiddyfied fair will never be my taste no matter how cut up.

I can buy that the Clark and Superman fight was in his head and just represented on screen physically for us the audience. I can accept that. What I can't accept is him blowing oil back into the tanker...just no.

Sorry I have turned this into a review of the movie itself. But I think I will just never like this movie no matter what anyone does short of remaking it and dubbing a new plot Donner style.

I'd rather have him blow oil back into the tanker than use his ReBuild-O-Vision. Don't you? ;-)

Why not? Oil and water don't mix. He just blew the oil off the top of the water, and evaporated any extra water with his laser vision.....;-)

Ok...I'll take it. I am just "that guy" who loved Superman 1 until he turned the world backwards. Great work though man.

Glad you enjoyed it - well, as much as you possibly could. :)
