Hi,

I'm about to create the subtitle track for my EP I re-edit but I've got a bit stuck.

What I've done is rip the files with VobSub, I then tried to create the subtitle files & nothing happens.

Here's the link to the instructions I've been following.
http://www.weethet.nl/english/video_rip ... ippingsubs
The section that doesn't work for me is the "Now it's time for the next step: Creating subtitle files."

I then tried importing the two files I did have into Adobe Encore 1.5 & it wouldn't have it. I get error messages saying "Invalid Line Found in this Subtitle Script" or "This is not a Unicode File. Re-save as UTF-8 or UTF-16."

The files Encore does use are Text Script, FAB Images Script & Images Script.

Then I tried converting them in Subtitle Workshop, but I couldn't import them into that program either.

With all these various files I'm not 100% what files I'm even working with, so I've made a couple of Rapidshare links so people can download them & see for themselves what I've got.

Can some please advise me to what's the best course to convert the above files into Text Script so that I can import into Adobe Encore, thanks.

One last thing, the original DVD with the subs was PAL & I'm now want to use those subtitles in a NTSC DVD, will that cause any problems?

Thanks,
FM

As far as using PAL subtitles on a NTSC DVD (or vise versa), you will come up with timing issues. PAL DVD's have the 4% speedup that NTSC DVD's don't have. So, the subs will appear before they are supposed to.

if you use subtitle workshop, you can adjust the subtitles easily to any speedup or slowdown. Just enter the exact time, when the first line and the last line start and it all fits.

Thanks Tubes. I thought there might be a problem, that's why I wanted to covert those 2 files into Text Script so I can adjust in Encore.

But I can't even import my files into Workshop. Does anyone know of a program that can covert my ripped 2 files into Text Script. Then I can make all the adjustments in Encore.

subrip can convert sub to srt.

I DID IT!!! I DID IT!!!

I'm not even sure how I managed it but I did it.

Basically what I did was use:

VobSub Configure to rip the text then save as sub.
http://www.weethet.nl/english/video_rip ... ippingsubs

SubResync in VobSub to recognise the letters of the ripped text & then I saved it as an srt file.
http://forum.videohelp.com/topic219201.html

Then I imported it into Subtitle Workshop, corrected a few things, then (here's the best bit) when I went to save it I just selected Adobe Encore settings & hay presto I've now import my subtitles into Encore.

Thanks boon23 for the tip on Subtitle Workshop, without that program I would never of been able to do it. I'm guessing I did it the hard way, but what the hell.

by the way did I mention that....

I DID IT!!! :-D
