Hi, I've got a few questions but I as they're all related I thought I'd stick them all under this topic.

Having seen the other Prequal Edits I've realised my crawls are piss poor & need doing again (it'll also give me a chance to re-title the movies).

So what I was thinking was,

1. Ripping my edits
I know there's a quality drop when doing this, so what's the best program or settings to maintain the quality as much as possible? :?

2. Re-doing the Opening Crawl
Can someone please tell what program they used & how exactly they did it. Both ADM's & Slumberland's were excellent, so any advice from them would much appreciated. I did mine with Adobe Affter Effects & then imported it into Adobe Premier. I'm still using Adobe Premier to edit if that's any use.

3. Subtitles.
My 1st two edits had a lot of subtitles. Is there any way of retrieving them once I've ripped the DVD? I originally made them in Adobe Encore & it took me ages, so I'm not really keen on writting them all over again. (I know I should have saved the files, but at the time I considered the whole thing to be a one off) :-o

Ummm... that's it I think. If anyone has any suggestions for new titles for EP's I, II, III, I'm all ears. I think someone suggested child of the force a while back but I can't remember who? :-?
Thanks.

1. Womble MPG DVD WIZARD has smart rendering. It keeps the video quality unharmed and changes encodes only where you made changes.
2. I don't know, never mad e a crawl like this.
3. If the subtitles are present as real subtitles and not burnt into the movie, then you can use Subrip (freeware) to get them from the DVD. They will be saved as srt files, which can be imported again.

Still my personal advise would be to start all over again using the originals, you can improve a lot more with the original material I guess.

I know how to do the crawl, but I'm a bit pressed for time right now, but I'll hook you up with some stuff when I get home this afternoon.

I'm seriously torn about starting from scratch.

On one hand there were a lot of technical issues with my edits which I would like to go back on. For eg, the crawl, the dodgy widescreen & the fact I edited the whole thing in with one stereo file.

On the other, with EP I there's so many edits in practically every scene I'm not sure I have the will to do it again :-D Also, after seeing everybody elses edits I know I'll be tempted to make changes to mine, which isn't really fair on the other guys.

Thanks Aztek463, please can you make your descriptions clear & simple, so an idiot can understand them. I can be a bit dense at times. :?

Hmm...it seems one of my files have gone missing...how ever, crawls can be made in the 3D editor Blender (it's free). I'll Google up a template file for a crawl (I have one, but it's screwed up).

Thanks Aztek463. I'll take a look at Blender later on today.

It takes a bit to learn, but it's not overly difficult. Once you pick it up, it's pretty cool.
