Second teaser for Requiem.....

http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATS9Tp7HxPw[/video]

February 2nd, Renegades will stream Part One of The Requiem for all official donors.

No wide release date mentioned yet.

Really excited to see this and happy they survived the Axanar fallout and Trek Guidelines non-sense.

According to their Facebook page, Requiem Part One will be released to the public tomorrow... Friday, March 31st.

You have to subscribe but it's NOT pay per view.

Part 2 trailer, howling at the last line. Serial numbers removed indeed....

Renegades: The Requiem Part One is available at The Atomic Network:

http://www.atomicnetwork.tv

As Dan pointed out, it is NOT pay per view, but you do have to subscribe with a simple email.

I watched Part One this morning, while shorter than I expected (27mins), it was thoroughly enjoyable.

If you liked the pilot, I believe you will LOVE this.  Everything is better and vastly improved since the pilot.
Better sets, green screen, costumes (though they still desperately need better personal tailoring for the Starfleet uniforms), better editing, and most importantly, better writing.
The FX is gorgeous!

And while the Fan Film Guidelines came into play during the production of this episode, even with the minor changes they made to some character (I love the simple solution of how they brought Jadzia back from the dead ) and races names, this still plays and feels like Star Trek.

A wonderful episode and I eagerly look forward to Part Two!!!!   :)

For those who missed it, Requiem Part One, now officially on Youtube:

Part Two is completed, and will be having its premiere next week in Hollywood, with an online release TBA.

So things have been very silent on the release of Part 2 of Renegades Requiem.  There have no news updates on their official site since September or on the TrekBBS.

Some have speculated that since, due to the Guidelines, they changed all the character names and fx designs, they may release this as a for profit venture to those who did not help crowd fund it?

Then the other day, I got this email from The Atomic Network for a new crowd funding project....

Renegades is used heavily in the promotion material.

Though maybe cause I am old, I am not clear how this new streaming service will work.... what the hell is cryptocurrency?  Atomic tokens?  Block chain????

I am apparently not a Smart user  :p  :p LOL

Minor update for those that have followed this project....

While THE REQUIEM PART TWO has not been released for free publicly, it was completed and was sent to all the donors.  The two part episode has since been recut into a Feature Length episode and is available for purchase on the Atomic Network site.

Atomic Network is moving forward with Renegades as a series for the their streaming service.  They are schedule to make 12 episodes, 45-60 minutes in length.   The VFX for episode one is complete and they are preparing to move to the studio phase for practical filming.

:)

The full movie REQUIEM is now available!!!!

You just have to the Atomic Network and create a free account to stream.  :D

Okay, so after much delay, the full REQUIEM (parts one and two now edited together as a single one hour episode) has been released for free on the Atomic Network site....

I watched.

The production values are pretty amazing for their low budget.... the CGI space battles are gorgeous and the limited practical set design is well done.   While the new uniforms are a step in the right direction, they all are ill fitted and significantly detract from the professional look.  I kept thinking maybe they should have spent less money on awesome practical Mos Eisely aliens (and they do look fun and great!) and instead had a professional tailor on set full time to tweak the hero uniforms.

The story:  Considering the producers had to do a mad scramble to change names and ship FX designs when the Fan Film Guidelines dropped, the story is surprisingly coherent though lacking much weight.  By changing character names, it does weaken the impact of different characters appearances, since there is almost little to no individual character story/development, and the show simply relies on fans being happy with seeing old familiar faces.

While Requiem has slightly better production values than the first movie, it is far less ambitious.  The first movie Star Trek Renegades had more story movement, more set pieces and better character arcs.  While flawed, it played more like a proper movie or pilot episode.  Requiem, however by comparison, feels very stagnant. All plot and key events are revealed while characters sit in park, or sit in a bar, or sit on a bridge, etc.   There is lots and lots of exposition, long monologues about dark threats to the Fed... er, I mean, Confederation given wonderfully by Walter Koenig, but in the end, it is all stuff that happens off screen.   There is one big bad guy, but again, we are told how evil and  horrible he is, how he has betrayed the principles of Confederation, but he really never does anything.   I know this was originally planned as a 3 part episode, so maybe much of the action and character development was cut for budget reasons? ....but it still results in mostly all talk and little show, making the plight of our heroes very difficult to embrace or care about.

There are two big epic space  battles and as I said before, the CGI is beautiful.  The editing is awkward and they feel like they go on too long and the bridge reaction shots, with the crew shaking around in their chairs, never quite works.

This is Walter Koenig's show and he gives a grand final performance.  The downside of this, most of the characters set up in the first movie are shuffled to the sidelines or background or are killed off.

Overall, an interesting, if somewhat underwhelming, fan film.   One can only "what if..." it may have been like if the whole Axanar scandal hadn't ruin everything.

The costumes were a big issue in Renegades as well.

Is it just me or does anyone else find it weird the final release has gotten little to no online attention?

Unless you were subscribed to the Atomic Network you would never know this fan film was completed and available for viewing.

There has been no press.   If you do a google search only Requiem Part One comes up.

Even the TrekBBS boards has remained strangely silent about this project.

After all the hubbub created on the announcement the project and the release of part one, you would think there would have been some internet buzz over its completion and the last performance of Walter Koenig as Chekov?

Though maybe the Atomic Network doesn't want any attention given the guidelines?

Yep...  I watched this back in October 2018 when it was on their Atomic website.  My review is posted above...

But in summary... gorgeous fx, terrible ill fitting hero uniforms, story hampered by "tell rather than show", stand out goodbye performance by Chekov... oops, I mean the Admiral, and while it was nice to see all the familiar faces the story was rushed and underdeveloped.

I smiled and enjoyed from a nostalgia perspective but still plays like a Fan Film (a very, very good fan film) rather than a professional studio level pilot as Atomic kept hyping it.

I totally forgot Renegades was a thing until now. I'm actually surprised a second part was made.
