• Most new users don't bother reading our rules. Here's the one that is ignored almost immediately upon signup: DO NOT ASK FOR FANEDIT LINKS PUBLICLY. First, read the FAQ. Seriously. What you want is there. You can also send a message to the editor. If that doesn't work THEN post in the Trade & Request forum. Anywhere else and it will be deleted and an infraction will be issued.
  • If this is your first time here please read our FAQ and Rules pages. They have some useful information that will get us all off on the right foot, especially our Own the Source rule. If you do not understand any of these rules send a private message to one of our staff for further details.

"Sharing of this file is restricted because it is (corrupted|multi-volume|encrypted/password protected) file. The restriction does not apply to downloading the file from your own account."
This is what i get in mediafire. Any ideas anyone or i should just re-upload with no password protect this time or something?

Here's the error I got just now:

"The file you attempted to download is an archive that is part of a set of archives. MediaFire does not support unlimited downloads of split archives and the limit for this file has been reached."

Mediafire puts blocks on password protected files occasionally. And, apparently, archived files (which is retarded, because if free members have something larger than 200mb to upload how the hell are they going to get it uploaded without archiving it). Their rules about Sharing vs. Distribution are kind of convoluted, but here's how I understand it.

You can share your files by sending someone the link directly and then they visit the page for the file. That way the page view count and the download count is the same.

You can't mass distribute your files, i.e. making a DLC and posting on Info.

If multiple people are downloading the files at the same time, sometimes they will restrict the files from being downloaded or shut down the account.

Or if they feel like being dicks they'll put restrictions on files or shut down your account and say you violated all the rules. Seriously, Say Anything was taken down in part because it was pornographic. Say Anything? Pornographic? Dafuq.

Use Google to research file hosting sites. Sites I've seen used recently:

Rapidshare, Mediafire, Megashares, RapidGator, Netload, Filefactory.

All of these have limitations, caveats and downsides for free users. That's how it is with File Lockers at the moment. RapidGator for example makes you wait 15 minutes between each download and their speeds for free users are pretty slow. But that's to entice people to pay for Premium Service so they can make money. From a business standpoint, it'd be ridiculous for their free options to be as good as their pay options. That's how Mediafire was about 10 months ago. They probably got a lot more users when Megaupload shut down and realized they'd be losing money if they didn't change their methods.

There are free Usenet options, do some research on that if you want to try that option. I think Wabid has researched A LOT of different Usenet options, so you can send him a PM about it or post here, or here.

There is no magical file locker or cloud hosting service that you can upload and download from with no hassle for free.

But, if you are willing to spend some money, here's the BEST way to upload fanedits. Go to NewsDemon and buy a BLOCK of Usenet downloads. Then you ask for Upload permissions, follow Q2's guide and away you go. As long as that block of downloads doesn't expire you can upload as much as you want/can to Usenet. 3 months ago I paid $20 for 200GB of downloading from Usenet. I've been smart about what I download so I still have space left and therefore still have upload permissions. And when that block expires I'll definitely buy another block, as that means I can continue uploading fanedits without worrying about them being taken down.

Thanks a lot! If you could also post a short review and rate in listing in the IFDB, that would be really appreciated!

Awesome! Someone actually took my advice!

Edit: By the way, I think everyone on FE.org should use this service instead of mediafire.

The usual password didn't work.

Please PM me with the correct one. Oh, and I'm getting several of these errors with winrar:

! I:\JDownloader\smhw-d9.part01.rar: CRC failed in the encrypted file Spider-Man Hero Within\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.BUP (wrong password ?)

Oh, I guess that's becoming more common to use the faneditor's name. Thanks by the way! :)
