I watched and enjoyed tolkieneditor's cut shortly after it was released, but I thought it could have used some more trimming. I was considering watching Spence's Edit for my next LotR marathon in a couple of weeks, but I'm not sure if I want to risk an inferior cut when both versions are so long (4.5 hours for tolkieneditor, 3.5 for Spence). If there are any of you out there who have seen both, or a possible third superior all in one edit of the Hobbit trilogy, can you give me your recommendations?

I agree: I thought tolkieneditor's had a bit too much bloat and also wasn't particularly good technically (honestly, in large part, due to having to use a CAM for The Battle of the Five Armies footage). Around the time his edit became popular, I grew to prefer the fanedit, "There and Back Again," which I thought was superior except for a slightly awkward ending.

That all said, Spence's Edit is my go-to version! It's great quality, and I highly recommend you use it for your marathon.

I'm temporaily locking this thread until the editor has explained the following comment...

Using illegally obtained sources for edits is obviously unexceptable (See 'Own the source rule' at the top of every page).
