I'm not satisfied with the performance yet because I was rushed and had to record it all within an hour. Now I actually have a mic and can take some more time

This is honestly amazing voicework, but I genuinely can't tell it apart from the original. Maybe with a side-by-side it'd be clearer, but this is what I remember him sounding like in the theater.

I didn't read this so sorry for the late reply but wow that's crazy because he sounds honestly completely different in the theatrical. I absolutely hated how he sounds in the theater. Which was surprising because it was the only voice performance that truly bothered me.

I was genuinely wondering if it'd be possible to write a Mario movie in which "So long gay Bowser" makes sense as a parting line in the finale. I haven't found a way to make Bowser's sexual orientation a plot point yet, but I'll keep my eyes open.

In terms of the clip there, it's so faint you can hardly make it out.

The genesis of this is the actual sound fragment from the actual game. Just to make sure noone is actually trying to be rude. It's the actual source that just sounds like this because of its low quality.

Having now listened to this on a loop I think it's ACTUALLY the italian accent messing the audio up.

He is not saying So long gay Bowser
He is actually saying: So long - a Bowser. The same way he says It's - a me at the start. I am 100% certain. Because he is definitely not saying King.

Actually.. humor is subjective. Sound isn't. It's not subjective to hear him say gay. There is no 'NG' for King. There is no 'K' for King.
There is however an 'ay' sound to it. The 'ay' comes after the 'so long' <- causing the G sound right there.

If the creators 'debunked' it, that doesn't mean the original sound doesn't sound poorly. If anything it makes the sound creators/voice actors bad at their job for even having to debunk anything at all. Or that they didn't think anyone would make a big deal out of it lol.

The only logical conclusion therefor is:
He is actually saying: So long - a Bowser. The same way he says It's - a me at the start of the game.

This is not one of them. Yes humor is subjective, but we don't allow humor at the expense of a defining characteristic of another person. There is real hate and prejudice that our community members experience daily that we don't want to continue here. You are welcome to think and feel however you want, but again, there are other venues and communities for that if you want to make light of such things.

Since I put the voice clip in the edit itself I found it nessesary to point out that hearing something does not equate to being hateful. For me it's a very nostalgic sound clip. If anyone finds that offensive, then so be it. I can only state that there is no intend on being offensive.

Sound is absolutely subjective. That's why practically 90% of people will agree Mario says "So long, gay Bowser", even though it was never the intent.

He definitely doesn't. If Charles Martinet had said he was trying to say "So long-a Bowser" (Mario often does add vowels on the end of words), everyone would've believe him, but "So long King-a Bowser" sounds nothing like what he actually said, and doesn't even match the number of syllables. I'm still convinced he was actually trying to say "So long-a Bowser".

Ahhhh yes. It's been looking for an opportunity to record them in peace and quiet. I live in Scheveningen close to the beach and the season has started with the warm weather and all. So there's a lot of noise going on in the background now compared to two weeks ago!

I have recorded lines that honestly were good enough, but good enough just doesn't cut it.

I will release this in its current form. The voice over will be added later but I just don't have time currently. And I know a lot of people want this with the movies original tunes. (Quite bizarre that it's not released officially with these tracks tbh)

When life gets quiter I will update the edit to include the voice over. As is it still has the dog scene removed, the 80s tracks replaced and the girlboss line from peach removed so it still is worthy of a release as is imo.

Will add a soundtrack with Driving me Bananas as an alternative for those who aren't Kong enough to appreciate the song I chose and want the pure OST experience.
