One Shot. A Deerhunter edit

The third one in my vietnam trilogy after The Horror and Born to kill
This week i work on this edit


The Deerhunter a true masterpiece in every way, but this cut is around the 110 minutes (on paper)
I put the spot more on the russian roulette, and the storyline is much faster
I think of music overdub of Moroder, between the music of Meyers


This is a "break" between all the horror DF's but after this one i go further with Carpenter's The Thing and Christine


Release is in April same as the third one of Carpenter.

A movie that could do with some trimming IMO.

I made a cut of around the 2 hours.
After some trimming i have now a cut of 1 hour and 54 minutes

I must clean some things up, but i have a very good feeling of this faster edit

This edit is done
I worked several nights on this and i am pleased with this cut
No Cavatina by the opening but beautiful music by Angelo Badalamenti
A lot of trims in scenes in the whole movie but the most important cuts are:

The cafe scene is trimmed no scene with the song "Can take my eyes of you"
Of course the wedding of Steven is cut to the most important scenes
There is no inside church scene only the one when they all come out
The party is also heavy trimmed
Driving to the mountains to go hunting is cut, the hunting begins when Michael and Nick leaves the cabin
Vietnam scene is mostly intact some minor trims
After that the Bowling scene is cut also some scenes with De Niro and Streep
At the end when Michael looks for Nick some trims are made

That's it, i hope the Deerhunter freaks likes it
This release is in April till then it stays on the shelf
