At the risk of going all FC on this thread, I've never been a fan of music mashups. Unless it's something like this:

 
DJ mashups can be interesting. Girl Talk has some really interesting stuff and I'd highly recommend this documentary to any faneditor. Great views on copyright, creativity and the future of art.

I really like this one with Johnny Cash, 2Pac and Biggie. It sounded like a very weird combination when i first saw this, but ii is actually quite decent!

Also this Foo Fighters/Nirvana one is preety awesome!

And an In Flames/Soilwork one that kicks ass

I know Beatallica for years, they are great, but they are not Metallica in a "mash up", they are a band making beatles covers with Metallica sound.
