Microsoft just cannot make good hardware.

Eh, this is nothing new.

As long as the console isn't moved during use, this isn't a problem.
 
Actually thats not it at all. it has nothing to do with moving the console while its turned on (although that is obviously not recommended) but the problem is caused by small shocks for example someone hitting a drum controller on rock band can cause the problem.

this was proved in a lab which they showed on the segment of watchdog when it aired yesterday.
 
they said the console hasnt bin moved...anyway it shouldnt scratch the discs no matter how much it is moved.
