"In a nutshell: Collabora hired a gentleman (Brandon Lewis) who worked on PiTiVi for the previous 2 Google Summer of Code's, they've refactored much of the codebase, and have many new (and key) features (including multiple layers, propper trimming, speed improvements and much more)."

sounds promising - i figured a few of y'all are also using linux and might enjoy such news :)
 
Might give that a go when I come back. I'm quite impressed by how Kdenlive has come along too, the latest version is pretty stable (not perfect) and will import anything you throw at it as long as you have the codecs installed
 
Are either of those frame-accurate editors? By which I mean like Womble or VideoReDo?
