Here's my newest Letterbox'd challenge:
5 Directors, 5 Films - Volume IV
A few years back I saw a bunch of Letterboxers doing this challenge. The concept is simple; pick 5 directors and then pick 5 films from each that you've never seen. I try to choose a variety of filmmakers and genres and time periods, mixing up the classics with the contemporaries. I usually wrote reviews for each film but I burned myself out on Volume III, this time around I'm not going to rush through the list so that I can write decent enough reviews for each.
Here are my 5x5 for v4:
Peter Bogdanovich
Targets (1968), Paper Moon (1973), Mask (1985), The Thing Called Love (1993) and Hu$tle (2004)
Frank Capra
Mr. Deeds Goes To Town (1936), Lost Horizon (1937), You Can't Take It With You (1938), Mr. Smith Goes To Washington (1939) and Arsenic And Old Lace (1944)
Walter Hill
Hard Times (1975), Streets Of Fire (1984), Crossroads (1986), Another 48 Hrs. (1990) and Bullet To The Head (2012)
John Huston
Key Largo (1948), The Asphalt Jungle (1950), The African Queen (1951), The Life And Time Of Judge Roy Bean (1972) and Prizzi's Honor (1985)
Hayao Miyazki
My Neighbor Totoro (1988), Kiki's Delivery Service (1989), Princess Mononoke (1997), Spirited Away (2001) and Ponyo (2008)
