This sort of thing needs to be taken a step further and done for an entire film.

On the other hand, I'm a big fan of knowing how not to outstay your welcome. And while the editing in that trailer is good, it's all variations on one joke and IMO would get really boring over an entire film, regardless of how well it's edited.

For sure. I mean more that this sort of thing could be utilised for an entire movie, as opposed to just being used as a joke-trailer.

But even still, if there's more to the concept of the edit than simply "kong swapped out for giant cat" (ala War of The Stars, or The Phantom Ridiculousness), then I don't see why something like that couldn't work for an entire film.
