was at KoreAm Journal's gala last night, and Jim Lee was honored for being a comic book bad-ass. he had some nice things to say about his parents, but for some reason the video file got truncated at a critical point in his speech. o, vell.

i haven't read comic books closely since elementary school, but i'm now inspired to pick up some dark knight collections. would appreciate any recommendations from FE peeps.

bonus: steven yeun was there to show some love.

Which Jim Lee compendium would you suggest?
 
hhhhmmmm... that is tough.

I enjoy Jim Lee's art, though I am not an avid fan or follower of his work. His art style was definitely fresh and exciting when he first appeared on the scene in the 1990s. His run on the X-Men was great and I highly recommend it. But I find some of his recent stuff (ie. JUSTICE LEAGUE) not as visually thrilling as I used to, all his characters look the same with just different costumes.

I am a fan of his WILDCATS series, though it is mostly popcorn, not much substance.

His FANTASTIC FOUR reboot was pretty solid.

Batman HUSH is very entertaining...

Lee's artwork is always good if you enjoy his particular style, in the end, it more comes down to what writer he is working with at the time that really elevates his work from average to spectacular.
 
aweshum, bb. tenks for the recs. once i'm reading these, i'll feel like a kid again. . . though i feel that way on most days. ;-)
