Restoring the original title of the 20th Bond film before it was changed to the unimaginative "Die Another Day," this edit attempts to remove the more ludicrous elements, so it can be seen as a more serious entry in the franchise. It removes Madonna both as actress and singer, only leaving an instrumental remix of the title track as source music during the cocktail party. It replaces the title track with "It's Over, It's Under" by Dolls Head, which was initially featured in 1997's "The Jackal." Not only did the song sound more Bond-like, but in a bit of serendipity, the lyrics actually match the visuals in the opening credits. If we didn?t know better (and we don?t, but we can assume) we?d think it was used as a temp track when the opening credits were designed.

Many of Jinx's worst lines are gone. Virtually all of the obnoxious Gaeta-cam moments are cut. The invisible Aston Martin has vanished completely (without losing the classic car-chase-on-ice). The wretched CGI parasailing sequence is nowhere to be seen. And in reverence to the late, great Desmond Llewellyn, Bond never calls the Quartermaster "Q" (even if that is his title).

The result is a leaner, tighter film that feels like a James Bond flick should ... certainly a little over the top, but not so out of this world that it defies all believability. Enjoy!

OH THANK THE STARS!

I hated that movie but am damn curious to see your version as you took out all the moments that made my eyes roll. Did they release this as part of the single disc remasters yet?

Casualimp, I don't think so. I used the original release for my basis. The result is that it's only mastered in SL, as the final master was 4.17GB.

twistd, why walk away in shame?

You know what fanediting is all about. Me on the other hand, I'm just a little guppy learning the ins and outs. Haha.

Two and a half years ago I'd never touched an editing program. If I can do this, anybody can. Hold your head high and say "I can learn how to do that too" and you will!

I might have to get this one. I liked the movie, but I don't seem to mind any of the changes. Might actually improve the film for me, too.

You only started 2 years ago ADM? Damn! I just did my first ever fan edit (I have made like 50 preservations but thats easy) and I loved doing it. It makes me want to go into films and cut them up or add in stuff. My only problem is that I can't transfer the 6 gig video file from my desktop to my iPod's hard disk. It just says it is full even though there is 15 gigs left on it. Oh well.... I'll just grab an external drive from work one day and transfer it. Oh yeah and if you want a copy ADM I'd love to give you one cause some of your edits and guides have been the catalist to making me do the edit.

I don't think the single disc remasters are out yet. Some of them are...but the one that are out already are too kick-ass to fanedit XD

Sounds great. I hated the movie when I first saw it, but with a more recent viewing, it's revealed itself as more or less an average but really over the top Bond movie. It can only benefit from having some of those terrible moments cut.

I don't like invisble cars (can you EVEN imagine that fitting into the new Casino Royale?) and I also hated the music in the start titles. Not sure about the name of Beyond The Ice though.

Anyway looks very interesting and I'll be watching it.

Any chance that 'London Calling' has been excised? That always seemed crowbarred in to me. Regardless, nice work and I look forward to seeing it. You performed good work with 'Superman Redeemed'.

"Beyond the Ice" was the original title before they changed it. It's a great title in that it refers to the Icelandic setting, to the Diamonds that were the central plot, and to Miranda's Ice Queen personality (she wasn't named "Frost" by accident). I assume there was once a great line about it in the script, but who knows.

Absolutely brilliant! Everything that rankled with Die Another Day has been removed with ADM's glistening Beyond The Ice. I really really enjoyed it. Farewell to Madonna and invisible cars!

Still not sure about the title Beyond The Ice (especially where Bond references Die Another Day) but I do see the connections with the film so I'll keep the name out of respect for ADM's brilliant production but add Die Another Day as a sub name on my poster (also makes the DVD easier to find in my collection).

FanEdit land shines again :)

It's also on Rapidshare

In my mind's eye this is how I see ADM's vision.
That's just a lo-res image for now until I decide what I'm doing with it (name/font etc). Obviously I had to remove Madonna image and Halle Berry's gun as she never looked comfortable with it in the film
